Really cool cannon design you got there. The cannon on the moble suit that I have, is totaly diffrent from any traditional energy cannon...I call it the "Quad Trans Dimensional energy Relay cannon"...it does not rely on the power grid from the suit to power it, in fact the pannels on the side collect energy from this dimension and opens a gateway to an empty one and places the energy there in the empty dimension. When the devise is fully charged, it has the capability of Ten heavy PPC's in a small and light weight size...however there are theretical reprecusions from using this device too much, and that is it can rip a hole in the fabric of space and time...thus creating an instantanious super massive black hole, and the other downside is it takes qquite a while to charge the acceptable levels.
