Mattie Poem
Mattie Stephanek's Heartsongs
I heard his poems yesterday,
they made me want to cry.
I know the boy that wrote them,
will probably only die.
My favorite singer sang them,
he didn't miss a line.
The singer prayed that someday,
Mattie will be fine.
Mattie wrote ideas from his heart,
they made me wonder how,
a boy so young and sick,
had gotten all that smart.
He wrote about the world, love, and hope of peace.
He wrote about the shades of life,
and just how things should be.
As I listened to his words,
the tears rolled from my eyes.
At least I thought his words had somehow made me wise.
As I opened the case to put my CD away,
A note fell out from Mattie.
Here is what he had to say,
"A Heartsong is your inner beaty. It's the song your heart wants you to use to help make yourself a better person and to help other people to the same. A Heartsong doesn’t have to be a song in your heart. It can be your message; your feelings. Some people might even call it a conscience. It is your message; what you feel you need to do. Everyone has it, no matter what it is, it still sings the same beautiful message of peace and love” - Mattie J. T. Stepanek
Everyone has a heartsong,
It comes from up above.
Everyone's heartsong is filled with peace and love.
