Aww, that's quite adorable. Is that meant to be a pit bull? I'm kind of iliterate when it comes to dog breeds.
That is true about not judging the breed. Sometimes not even the deed should be judged. As with any animal, they were made with certain survival instincts. If a human owner doesn't take thatinto consideration, then it is the person's fault not the animal. I watch those animal shows on tv where people will take care of a wild animal. They always strictly warn against the natural instincts of these "pets." Some dogs are not quite "domesticated" and people who buy them don't fully research the animal's habits. Especially those with young children. I know from experiance that little kids and even teenagers can annoy even our tabby cat. To escape that annoyence, our cat will attempt to bite or scratch if aggervated to her limits. Children and cerain animals don't mix. People need to use common sense/research when choosing a pet rather than how adorable it is and then blaming the animal for a natural instinct.
Well said. So many people I hear talking about how dangerous pit bulls are and I tell them to their face they are full of shit! I worked in a grooming shop for almost 6 years and in allll that time , the many pitbulls that I encountered, I never ONCE saw a mean one. Nor did I hear bad things about any of them. Among those dogs said to be 'aggressive' 'dengerous' and all that poppycock..I have found most every dog of those breeds to be the sweetest mmost loving animals you could possibly come across. The breeds that have had more aggressive tendencies from what I saw were the small dogs like shit-zu's, some pomeranians, lhasa aphsos, poodles and other such dogs. Its sad to see any one breed judged as ANY dog just as any human can be capable of violence. It would be like saying "all black men are rapists and burglars" OOOKKAAY that would be viewed as racism, so why is it ok to stereotype a dog breed? People are walking hypocrits
I really like this! It's really well done, so nice and simple - yet in the simplicity there is detail... if that makes any sense? And you make a really good point... I hate how people assume that all pit bulls are bad, all dobies are bad, all rotties, etc... it's horrible. ;_;
Funny you made this picture, because my mom and my sisses talked about this just a couple days ago.
Actually, according to most statistics, isn't the German Shepherd responsible for most dog attacks/bites/whatever? I know the pit bull gets a pretty bad rep for it, but I think the German shepherd is still believed to be rather vicious, even though they aren't generally. I think the problem with the statistics is that you have to think about the situations these certian breeds are in. Normally, a family with young children isn't going to prefer a mean-looking bulldog or a Doberman over a cute little Pomeranian or a golden retriever (this is not taking personality into account). You're more likely to have people getting their hands on more notoriously strong and aggressive looking breeds in scarier, more dangerous environments where violence (including dog-fighting) is more common. SO naturally, there would be more incidents of the breeds, like the pit bull being regarded as adangerous animal. Thing is, all animals have the potential to get nasty if they are irritated or threatened. Thing is, you're not gonna report when you're chihuahua bites you, right?
