The Birth Of A New Senshi ~ Chapter 12

Lila ran down the dark damp streets, “Where is it?” She muttered until she came across a large building made of “Crystal?” Lila stopped dead in her tracks, staring up at the large crystal building in front of her, she then gazed at the sign next to it, it read ‘Crystal High.’
“How am I going to do this?” Lila crouched down next to the sign thinking things over, she no longer looked like she used to, her disguise fixed that, but why did she bother with it in the first place? “Oh yeah, I almost forgot,” Lila declared sarcastically, standing up, she gazed at the school, “So I would never have to go back there.”
Lila entered the doors of the school, everything went quiet.
Well what would you expect? It was already quiet, she was in reception and the secretary had just hung up the phone. “What can I do for you, Ms er...” The secretary trailed off.
“Lida Oko.” Lila lied. Hey, don’t blame her, she never was a quick thinker.
“Right, what can I do for you, Ms Oko?”
And so Lila explained that she was new and had just been transferred there.
“Honey,” The secretary said in an annoyingly high voice, “Honey, look. This school has a very strict dress code, don’t get busted, ok? I’ll send someone up to get you and take you to your class. Sit there, please.” She then pointed to some chairs across from them. The secretary went back onto her phone and then looked up, “Someone will be down in a moment. And hon? Your disguise didn’t fool me, but I’ll...” Lila never did know what the secretary was going to say because at that moment, the door slid open and everything but the person standing there, faded out of existence.
He walked over to Lila, “James.” He said holding out his hand so that they could make acquaintance.
Lila gasped for air, her lungs burning, she then realised that she had in fact been holding her breath, she wasn’t expecting this “Lida, Lida Oko.” She said shaking James’ (the James we know from all the chapters before) outstretched hand. Which reminded Lila of some of the things which had happened to the two of them, this would be awkward, she had feelings for this guy, but she had learnt all through her life that feelings only get in the way. Lila stood up and walked to the door leaving James staring into space, where had he seen her before? James shrugged it off and went to show Lila to her class, it turned out that they were in the same class, Lila had to sit at the front because she was new and James sat just behind her, in his normal seat. Perfect, now if he could just remember where the hell he had seen this girl before... The morning lessons dragged by, Lila trying her hardest not to notice the eyes boring into the back of her neck. The second the lunch bell rang Lila stood up and whipped around, “QUIT STARING AT ME!” She yelled at James, stopping all the people around her to stop and stare, James knew that he had heard that voice before also. After Lila had eaten her lunch, she was leaning against one of the trees in the school’s field. When out of almost no where, a bunch of girls who seemed like they were on sugar-high (not a good thing) stood in front of Lila, “Hi!” One of them said with a voice higher than the secretary’s voice.
“What?” Lila asked, her patience for a high voice growing thin.
“You totally told James Oparo off. I can’t even believe you had the guts to.” The girl flicked her hair away from her head, “I mean, he’s like the strongest jock in Tokyo.”
“Get to the point.” Lila said trying to stop herself from going over the edge.
“There is no point,” The girl went on, “We just wanted to know if you would like to hang with us.”
Now before you think that Lila is mental for doing this, listen to the reasons she did it.
1. The girls were on a sugar high.
2. She didn’t like them
And 3. They were cheer leaders.
“No thanks.” Lila stepped away from the small crowd of cheer leaders and walked around the grounds for a while.
When she was stopped, ‘By who?’ I hear you ask, well don’t worry it was just a teacher, the head teacher to be exact.
“One week detention.” He said handing Lila a detention slip.
“For what?” Lila asked staring at the slip it read ‘One week detention for Lida Oko for a violation of the school dress code.’
“Two weeks.” He handed her another slip and Lila sighed as the head teacher walked off.
She read the second slip, ‘For being mouthy to the head teacher.’
“MOUTHY?!” Lila exclaimed out loud making a few people in groups become quiet. Lila crumpled the two slips and stuffed them into her pocket. Not a good way to start your new high school is it? Well believe me, it was about to get worse. Lida was walking along the corridors of the school, trying to find her next lesson, the corridors were busy as the bell had only just rung.
“Watch it!” Lila yelled to a jock who had banged into her on purpose.
“And why should I?” He asked turning around smirking at her. Lila now noticed that he was a good foot taller than her, but that didn’t put Lila off, if anything, it made her madder.
“Because you should, OK? Or should I make sure you remember?” Lila threw her books to one side and ran her hand through her now short red hair.
The jock, instead of throwing his books, like Lila did, handed them to someone by him, probably one of his friends.
Obviously, he started the fight by throwing a punch at Lila who returned it with a swift kick in the stomach. “Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight!” The people around them were chanting.

-The other end of the corridor
James walked down the corridor to his next lesson. Hearing the noise, he walked quicker until he came to a large group of people, all gathered around something. James pushed his way to the front of the crowd of people. “Oh, damn.” He whispered seeing the scene in front of him, Lila + fight + jock = not good. Actually, now that he had a good look, Lila wasn’t all that hurt, she simply had a bruise forming on her cheek, the jock however, had blood running heavily down his face.
“Had enough?” Lila asked a smirk spread across her face, the jock nodded.
The smirk on Lila’s face did not falter, at least until her form teacher saw the scene. As you can imagine, Lila was given a month’s detention and the jock, well, he just got off with the broken nose Lila had given him.
That day in detention, Lila sat there with a book, she was as it seamed the first person there, but, as Miss Johnson, the teacher in charge of detention informed her, the others would be there momentarily if they didn’t want another 3 weeks of detention. Lila found that once again, she was reading the history book she had brought over from her old home, Lila was so absorbed in what she was reading that she didn’t notice the other students for detention come in, but she did hear Miss Johnson direct them to where they were to sit, one of the things Miss Johnson said however, made Lila look up from her book, see, she had said: “OK, James, go and sit over there next to Lida.”
James walked to the desk next to Lila, dumped his bag on his desk and sat down, “”Nice bruise, Oko.”
Lila realised what he was on about, he was talking about the bruise she had just gotten from her fight with the jock. “Well, I didn’t see you helping.”
“Lida, look, why are you on my case?”
“Why are you on mine?” Lila retaliated turning back to her book when Miss Johnson told them to shut up.
When Miss Johnson rang a little bell on her desk, everyone looked up, “You can go home now.” She said smiling at them all as if detention was dead fun, huh, dead was the right word for it actually. Lila stood up and packed her book into her bag. She was the first out of the hall because for an unknown reason, she ran. Lila was out of the door in a flash, she slowed down once she got outside. She hid behind a tree when she heard voices from behind her, “So, James, what happened to this dream girl you were on about?” It was James and his ‘friends’.
“I dunno,” James said walking past the tree with his ‘friends’ “She was there with Rini this morning, but Rini said that Lila just dissapeared.”
“Hey!” One of his friends laughed, “That new kid, you know, the one who gave Jake a broken nose, isn’t her name Lila?”
“Nope, her name’s Lida.” James said.
“Oh yeah, James? I heard that she thinks you’re dope.” Another one of his friends.
Lila had heard enough, she stood up from her position behind the tree, walked up to the guy who had made the last comment and punched him, hard in the stomach. As she thought, the guy doubled over. Lila walked off, not listening to the abusive words from behind her. Lila had walked about half a mile from the school when a limo pulled up and the window rolled down.
“Lila.” The man inside said.
“MAX?!” Lila exclaimed just after she had yelled some very colourful 4 letter words. “What are you doing here?”
“Picking up you and James to take you back to the palace, now get out of that ridiculous disguise before James gets here.”
Lila did as asked, she closed her eyes, her short red hair became long and blond, she opened her eyes which had now changed from green to deep purple, she was Lila Oro again.
At that moment, james came running towards the car, “Lila I didn’t see you at school at all today, where were you?” He asked Lila when he saw her.
“I was around.” Lila said smiling slightly getting into the limo with Max at the wheel and James and Lila in the back.
Then, James noticed the bruise on Lila’s cheek “Lida?”
Uh-oh, explanation time...
