The other day,
Kaynine and I decided there were not enough Malaysian-themed furry art lately, if not ever. This piece is a response to that... sort of. Kain pelikat was one of the things I've always wanted to draw, since it's one the most Malaysian (or maybe Malay) things that a guy could wear, and thought I'd draw something funny with it. Handsome guys with kain pelikat turn me on, especially with a singlet. Hawhawhaw.
I dunno, maybe I tapped into something along the way, and this came out. Of course the eight-pointed star, and the shadows that make up my frequent homage to wayang kuilt (literally, "skin theaters", but really just shadow puppets) are pretty Malay in nature, so I guess it didn't veer far off the road. The "characters" in the shadow realm in the top area are the Garuda and an eyeless Lake Dragon. And yes, I'm a self-learning shaman, despite juggling things with mundane life.
Sketched, then inked/filled in with 0.2 and 0.3 pens and Sharpies, finished up with post-work in PhotoShop because I figured it'd look nicer. It disturbs me slightly that the drawing style is reminiscent of
Furikku's stuff. Aiyo.
