A woman sits at a banquet,
surrounded by friendly caterers,
and stares at the lovely food.
She looks at the turkey,
in gravy prepared,
and all that looks tasty and good.
She sees that there's spinach
and vegetables, too -
some things she just doesn't like.
She stares at the caterers,
her friends one and all,
and decides they are the Third Reich.
Her face cramps up
in an ugly scowl
as she looks at the food and the bread.
She looks at herself,
puts her fist to her mouth,
and bites off her finger instead.
As she gnaws off her limb,
and eats of herself,
she takes a moment to reflect...
She could not eat dinner,
not one with spinach,
so instead her solution is perfect.

This is an entry for a contest. It's about an angsty girl I know. Actually, several angsty people I know. See here. Also done for my creative writing class. I liked how it came out.
