This a "yay I made a Tutorial" ^^

Thought to do it because my sister ~ Lunay asked me "how do you do these things", and some more people did it also, so I got courage and made this xD
Please forgive my HORRIBLE english but i think it's understandable

Well, it's obvious there is not just one way to draw this cartoony style, even me I never
draw with one unique method, just let it flow and see what the drawing is asking for, next
oh, and note that I'm not a professional, I'm working on to be, one day

So, lets see how I made "Monikiti":
1- SKETCH - Just put the idea you have in mind on the paper [ in this case, based on the Doremi series ©] and scan it
2- INK - Work the lineart, ink your idea on the PC. ( To do this, I used Adobe Illustrator CS, pencil tool, with 10 of 'fidelity on it's properties)
3- BACKGROUND - Select all that is non-character and put some kind of fog, or clouds [ in this case in tons of blue/white] (I used Corel Photo-Paint 10)
- BASE COLORS - just paint your character with the base colors you want (I used Photoshop CS)
4- SHADE AND HIGHLIGHTS - well, this part is a bit "strange"...select the base color of something on the character with the eyedropper tool, for exemple,
a peace of the skirt, and choose a darker tone. Now with this new color, paint the places on the skirt you think that could have a shade. Do the same for all the character and then,
the same with lighter tones
- THE EYES - yap...the eyes are the first things we look at, after we got the perception of the whole figure, so it's very important to have it precise.
A big ball, a smaller ball, a bit of lighting before, et voilá! If you notice after that that the eyes are not "paralel", or not looking in the same way, try again the balls thingy...
sometimes "stupid eyes" can damage the whole picture, even if it's very nice!
5- THE PORMENOURS - well, actually I took care of some pormenours on the 4th phase, cause I forgot to save on a new document ¬¬ what I made on the 4th was just working a bit more her
boots' ropes?! ( what's the english word for that? xD )
I put also 2 or 3 "spot lights" on her, you can see it on the hat, skirt, boots...it gives the picture some effect of movement
- THE MAGICAL BACKGROUND - hehe this is the best part...just select the "cloudy background" you had, and start putting shapes there ( I used Adobe Photo Elements)
DON'T put 100% opacity shapes, it would give a static effect, and we want movement ^^ Just play with the tones ( in this case blue and a bit of dark yellow, so it won't be too much blueish ),
play with the shapes, play with the opacities, with the dimensions...and it's done! If you want, put a white frame all over the pic, to give a "clean" effect. Sign, and post it xD

Well, I hope this thingy helped someone!! Of course there are little tricks you learn with time ( I allways learn one more )
Hey, if you used this thing as refference lemme know, I would love to see the result

Hey, thanks a lot ^^ I'm always having issues with shading. Um, just curious: Do you use a hard brush or soft brush? and do you blend your shades together or let them meet with straight lines?
Oh, and just so you know:
boots' ropes?! ( what's the english word for that? xD )
they are called laces ^.~
