Eighth in my "Women of Japanese Horror" series.
According to Japanese legend, the Rokurokubi is a strange kind of shapeshifter creature that appears like an ordinary woman (or man) during the day, but at night stretches its snake-like neck, which searches for things it wants. Some people might be Rokurokubi and not even know, with their head slithering away from the body while they're sleeping. o__o; They're not necessarily harmful all the time, but they're given to excess and gluttony and will take whatever they want, whether it be expensive furniture or, in some cases, a human sex partner. Death of those whom it wants isn't very common, but it happens. But never let it be said that Rokurokubi aren't fun to be around - they love to party lavishly.
While she's not as downright dangerous as the Yuki-Onna, you have to admit that seeing your lover's neck suddenly become like a snake would be enough to scare the tar/piss/crap/life out of you. I know I'd run wailing into the night. I like how her body turned out, and yes, I know how big her breasts are. It's become a habit - I can't draw small breasts anymore! "Seraphic Feather" has ruined me!
I drew her having a Heian-period (ancient, ancient Japan - over 1000 years ago, folks) look to her hair and eyebrows. Why? Because women in the Heian period had really, really, really long hair, and I love drawing long hair. Plus I like the eyebrow shape.

Wow, this is amazing! So detailed, and I love how her hair flows down into her kimono. Heian-era women are so much fun to draw.
I really love this series you're doing! Makes me want to go and get out some of my mythology books... or rent some J-horror movies. ^^
And interestingly enough, I was just talking to someone about how Orochimaru's neck-stretching jutsu is based on a mythological being, but I couldn't for the life of me remember what they were called. Rokurokubi... I'll have to remember that.

Oooh, she's creepy. I remember the Rokurokubi too, from my Japanese class. We didn't learn much about them, though, only that they existed in Japanese mythology and were "scary." The veins on her neck are *shivers*, but her kimono, while kinda morbid, is very pretty.

That's nuts. Well done. *grins*

I love how her long hair served as kind of a cloak, it gave the illusion that she was normal at first.

The colouring on this is amazing and I have never seen anyone draw one of these before, very well done

the eyes remind me of the art style of yoshitaka amano.
