Corneria – The Jewel of Lylat

“The temperate world of Corneria is known as the jewel of the Lylat system… and rightfully so. A class H planet in the middle of the Lylat system, the fourth planet from Solar sits in just the right spot for it to have the most hospitable and welcoming conditions in the region. The planet is also very geologically active and even though eruptions and earthquakes are rare, the evidence of the planet’s fiery past and warm, wet present loom all around on the surface. Caves, tunnels, stone arches and crevices have been carved out of the porous volcanic rock of the planet’s crust by the many streams and rivers of the planet. There are even systems of caves and large cavernous catacombs far beneath the surface.

In the past, the people of Corneria would flee underground during times of war to escape the fighting and massive underground cities have even been constructed in the larger cave systems to house the refugees of these conflicts.

As far as the surface goes, the planet itself is three quarters ocean giving it a rather healthy atmosphere of Oxygen and Nitrogen, as well as variable weather and a healthy, active biosphere. The rest of the continent covered in lush forests and plains, home to all nature of animal and plant life.

This gift was realized by the Cornerian people long ago and despite being home to 85% of the population of Lylat, all of the cities and local industry are built in total harmony with nature. Environmental pollution; air, water, waste and noise; are all at an acceptable minimum and continuing efforts are being made to erase the final 7% efficiency loss in most Cornerian technology.

Corneria, due to it’s large population, has also become the center of government, politics and culture in the Lylat system and decisions made here almost always affect Lylat as a whole, not just the planet of Corneria… ”
