Chains

To be on the wrong side of the fence, so to speak, to watch your world slip away knowing that there's not a thing you can do to save it... To be dead inside, knowing that all that you once knew is dying, beyond your grasp... Your world fades into silence, and all is dead.

All, except for you.
You don't die easily, though you wish you could.

You have to live. You have to remain. Even if you are the last.

Even if you watched your people go into oblivion through the gaps in the chain link fence...
