I was playing around with a ray tracer called HaloSim. I'm still not sure how it works. I think the camera is looking at the sun and the effects of ice crystals in atmosphere.
The white horizontal like that is two thirds down is the horizon.
Statistics:
The render took 2 minutes and 29 seconds for 300,000 rays.
I removed the stripes by switching my display from 24 bits to 32 bits color mode. Some programs that I use don't look good in 32 bit color mode.

I don't totally understand this, and I think that's why I like it. Is this picture actually supposed to be something, or just a simulation of an effect? Why was this program created?
Okay, now that I looked at the site I have to say I'm very glad you brought this to my attention. How did you find this?
