What totally would have blown this out of the water was if it were a realism portrait done in charcoal, which I almost mistook this as when glancing at the thumbnail.

Wow. You've got some amazing skills. I love the shading, the pattern on his kimono and his relaxed pose/expression. B/W fits the mood in the picture perferctly. I think I'd like it even better if the empty space above his head had some more leaves flowing in the air. Not many, that would ruin the mood of the picture, but a few more perhaps?
