Four dragons, four elements. Invisible titans all around you. But once you notice them, they never disappear.
A look at the bigger version and the detail shots is
strongly suggested.
Wheeew, I'm so glad I'm done with this. Took more staring at bright orange colors than what was good for me. I plan to submit this picture to Exposé 3, so your critiques and opinions are welcome.
A few notes:
*) Medium - Corel Painter 8 + Trust tablet
*) Time taken - too long. (A week? Longer? I've no sense of time.)
*) Background music - Stratovarius, Mystical Sun, Aura - The Source of Trance, Antinomie, Trance Control. See a trend? X)
*) Water has 6 wings - two for ice, two for water, two for steam.
*) The files are freakin' big, 'cause of the jpg compression method I picked to keep the oranges/reds at least Somewhat bearable. Jpg sucks with those colors.
*) It is not a coincidence that the staff has four chains and there are four dragons.
*) Orange is evil, evil...

I keep thinking this piece needs musical accompaniment, strings mostly.. I can hear it now in my head o__0 There is vibrant percussion with deep bass at a fairly steady pass, but lighter percussion marking the change in direaction in the flight of the dragons. Very atmospheric... wish I had more time to describe it.
I just noticed the dragon of earth below him, it just occurred to me as my eyes trailed from the head.. back. There is a vabrance to this piece, with his dynamic pose as the focal point the dragons reveal themselves slowly, intangible, as you put it, titans.
Your quote, is very true. At first glance at this picture, your mind fathoms what it is seeing, making connotations and comparisons until now, it lifts the dragons from the page. 'They never disappear'.
Stunning work.. may I ask, who is the figure who appears to be conducting some ceremonial dance?

SteelVenom Says:
Personally I see more like 4 dragons that are alike because of the common color scheme, and not 4 different elements (minus Earth)-though up close i do see the differences. I see more like a core of a planet with a cool dancer guy-I love it. I just don't necessarily feel the 4 elements going on here, more like 2; Earth and Fire....

I also like how you really don't notice the dragons at first but once you find them they are just there...I really like this piece, the heat wave textures are a really nice touch too
