Spellcheck

I'm an English major. Nothing drives me insane quite like educated people who can't spell and don't try. Professionals have come to rely on Spellcheck to correct their text for them instead of taking the time to proof-read. Well, computers can't tell the difference between homonyms. So their work remains full of errors and they circulate it to the public, who assumes that's the way things are spelled because the people who wrote them are supposedly 'professionals'.

On a lighter note, I once wrote to the local newspaper concerning this subject, berating the editor for letting so many errors slip through and blah blah blah. Turns out my letter had three typos in it because I didn't run Spellcheck before sending. Understandably I can ever write to the newspaper forum ever again.

Anyway.... The art may be old, but this remains one of my most grating peeves.
