In an effort to bring another of my RL friends into the warm snuggle that is WoW, my gaming group picked up a copy of the Warcraft d20 system and gave it a run. My friend's wife made a Night Elf barbarian, he went for a Goblin Tinkerer/Sorcerer and I opted for something tall, bright and bovine.
I present to you Bel (the tauren) Gaffer (the goblin) and unnammed (the night elf, as played by someone who can never quite seem to come up with a name for her characters)
Bel was a young Tauren whose tribe got lost in the mountains when traveling from their summer camp to the winter one. The blizzard came quicker then the Shamans could scent and even the sturdy Kodo fell to its icy claws. Her last memory of mother involved a final gasping breath, visible mist dancing in the air. The powerful arms that clung to her, willing heat into her, finally went limp with the last strength they had left to give.
Then she was alone.
But there in the mountains, covered in his own blanket of white, the wolf spirit found her. Taking pity on the child, he leaned in with his powerful jaws; aiming for a quick death for the lost little one.
She clubbed him hard with her mother's walking staff.
Even as an untrained child, she wasn't going to waste the life her mother had given her. Fascinated, the wolf spirit beckoned the fiesty tauren, slowly walking the unseen paths that would lead to the moonlit spirit realm. The realm shared by all of nature's truest friends.
But the tauren druids rejected the child. She was an ill omen, wrapped in her mother's shawl. If the mountain had marked her for death, they would not argue.
A pair of glowing eyes, shimmering from a feline form slipped from night's shadow, shifting form into a night elf. She'd take the girl. Her own daughter was just about to enter adulthood and it would be nice to have someone to care for once more. And so it was...
*blah blah blah* Hordish character raised by goody goody Elves, feeling a little out of place as she towered over her would be peers; focusing her training through disciplined combat in order to be more like the graceful Night Elves she both admired and envied.
