It is actually quite easy to make a Orb in Photoshop. im using Photoshop 7 for mine..not sure if the other versions ave the same thing or not. We aren't going to use any Filters, well one but all PS should have it, and Blending Options for layers. Heheh..this is my first tutorial...I hope I get it right >.> . Lol anyway lets start shall we?

Step 1. Make a new document using however size you like. For the sake of argument im just gonna use 500x500. Now push D to get your colors back on track and get your Paint Bucket tool and fill it with Black.

2. Right click on the Paint Bucket icon and switch it to the Gradiant Tool. Make sure that its on normal Black to White option, that it is on Linear and the Mode is on difference. Now be sure Reverse is unchecked and start going crazy all over your page. Up, down left, righ, sideways, whatever, just click move and repeat. Make sure though you have no skinny lines of black or white, thats bad for your paper.

3. Now when you get it to your liking we are gonna set a color for it. CRTL+U to bring up the Hue/Saturation screen and set your color, im gonna use a Blue color for this tutorial. Once you pick a color push ok.

4. Now we move on to Twirl. The size and shape of your orb depends on this twirl. A big twirl means a wide Orb and a small twirl means a skinier Orb. Go to Filter>Distort>Twirl and put it at about 300 for this tutorial. (Course use however big of a twirl you want.) Now once you do that make sure you click on your layer twice to change it from a background layer to a regular layer and push CRTL+J to duplicate it.

5. Now here you can either Twirl this layer some more, or leave it alone its up to you. But anyway, go to Edit> Transform>Flip Horizontal. Now change the blending option of the new layer to Lighten and you should have the beginnings of a Orb. Merge the 2 layers by pushing CRTL+E

6. Now Duplicate the layer again and go to Filter>Distort> Polar Coordinates and do Rectangular to Polar. And you should have a Orb! Yaaaay! See that wasn't hard was it? Now for this layer you can either leave it alone, or change the blending option to get a better effect. Up to you.

Also I forgot to mention, the Size of your page also helps determine how wide or how big your Orb is along with how big of a twirl.

Now if you want to experiment with how you want your orb to look you can try this.

CRTL+J to copy the layer again and and mess around with the Blending options until you get something you like. Also flip it or rotate it some to get new effects in your blendings. The rest how you want is up to you, I just hope this answered how to make an orb.

Oh and thanks for sticking with me if you actually make it to here, lol.
