Sonic Chase

From January. 2004.

I'm a little hesitant to post some of the comics work I'd done from last year, t' be honest. Given that, you know, some of this is upwards to a year old. But then again, I'd really like to try and make this Sheezy account I signed up for something of stronger gallery-space than my Dev name, and being that I do fancy myself a comic book drawer I suppose I should post comics. Right?

This was a brief 3 page practice comic. I'd done nothing but single strips for a long while, so I wanted to experiment with an opening scene of comic book, choosing Sonic, of course, 'cause Sonic is cool. The first page is broken into panels to accompany (non present) dialogue, in which we slowly come to realize there's an Eggman vehicle parked in the city, and then realize it's in front of the Station Square bank by the last panel. Page 2 sees Sonic readin' some comics and drinkin' some Coca-Cola, when he picks up the robbery on an ear-piece. And he zooms off. Page 3... Well, the idea was that it was supposed to be Sonic running, but at the same time thining of recent events. Like SA2. And stuff. And that was the premise.

I've never been a huge fan of the Axer-mentality of gearing-up Sonic characters to the extreme. Just the same, however, I couldn't resist trying it once on my own. :3 The glasses have been a habit for a long time, though the vest was based on a Street-Fighter meets Pong game I'd assisted with a year prior. Color choice inspired by the visually stunning Bright and Shiny Future comic, by Rafael Valencia. Old and outdated, but funny. Who'da thunk by the end of that same year I'd actually be signed on to do a real Sonic the Hedgehog fan comic, Other M?
