That title can be interpreted two ways, and both are correct in regards to Jase.

Jase is a battle-field surgeon in a war-time environment. He travels everywhere with his scalpels. A giant asshole, he enjoys his job thoroughly and uses his position to carry out experiments that would be outlawed in times of peace. To tell the truth, the only people who can tolerate him are either doormats or as messed up as Jase is.
