Kyo's Life Invitational: Epilogue




With it coming close to 4 o'clock in the afternoon, Kyo put quite a spring in his step to get to his house quicker. With his paws and arms full of bags, material, and gadgets to get the party started- he couldn't wait.

~Man... finally...stress free environment to hang out with everyone. I hope Catrina isn't worried...~ he thought to himself.




Back at his house though Catrina WAS worried. She had already sent all the invitations out. She kept staring at the note her husband left trying to see if it had an exact time he would get back. Cianna and Kadin however weren't as worried as their mother. They were getting along, and this surprised Catrina. Its not often her children are playing quietly and being nice to each other.

All of a sudden, she heard a few odd knocks on the door.

"...?" She quickly got up and rushed to open the door- hoping it was Kyo.

It was! It was hard for her to resist the urge to hug him with all the stuff in his arms. "Hey honey, miss me? Heheh"

"I did! What...is all that stuff?" Catrina WAS gonna ask 'what took you?', but she knew better than that.

Kyo set the stuff down to give her a big hug and a small kiss. "Decorations, snacks, and my own...stuff."

"Something tells me you have more up your sleeve." Catrina said, rather happy.

Kyo began with the 'decorations' right away. Kadin and Cianna were peaking out of their rooms- not wanting to get in the way, but they still were curious at how their dad would fix the place up this time. Every year its something different, and it just gets better each time. They never did have money to do something fancy... but their dad always found a way around it.

Mini-projectors made by Kyo himself displayed ghosts that looked rather life-like. Ghouls and Zombies were made from robotics and ideas inspired by Trevor and Laura. He even sapped his own energy to let water-manipulation go on its own temporarily around the house, water colored with orange-luminescent dye (one that glows like neon) with a few droplets of green here and there. All he had left was the food.

And that was something Catrina and the kids were looking forward to.

What would a Halloween party be without spooky snacks, Devilish Delights, and ghoulish grubs? With Kyo in the house, it wouldn't.




"Hey kids, wanna help me cook?!" Kyo yelled out in a joyful tone.

"Yeah yeah yeah!" they yelled back, rushing out to the kitchen.

"Ok Cianna, I am going to have you work on the sweets~ And Kadin, I'm going to have you prepare the delicious snacks!" Kyo said.

"What about you, you lazy wolf?" Catrina said, giggling.

"... Why I. I am preparing the MAIN COURSE!" Kyo said in a bit of a darker tone. He began to tap his fingers together, getting into the spirit of Halloween.

Just as he said that: he heard a thud, a shriek, and an evil chuckle. "Its nice to know you'd offer your wife like that."

Kyo jumped with a start and turned around. For the third time within a month, it was Zero starting back at him. This, made Kyo snap. " WHAT THE HELL DO YOU WANT?! "

" Oh. I seen a bunch of invitations being sent out- and I wasn't invited. Tell me, why didn't you invite your father?" he smirked- showing one of his fangs which was actually increasing in size. He also noticed something behind Zero moving...

"..!!!! CATRINA, TAKE THE KIDS AND GET OUT!"

The kids however, were too shocked and scared to move. Before Kyo had a chance to react- he was struck at and then bound by metal. The metal looked as fluid as mercury and as strong as titanium- and it came out from Zero like a tentacle. Another one tied to Catrina's legs and arms- disconnecting just to keep her bound.

" You know how long I've wanted to do this, boy?" the vampire spoke with victorious - yet still stressed words. Kyo was trying so hard to struggle... but he sapped himself and his water manipulation to be remote for a few hours... he was virtually defenseless.

"Very long. " replying to his own answer, restricting Kyo even tighter- making it hard for him to breathe. " The best part is, not only do I get to finish you off, your dear wife can watch. Oh how everything works out~"

"K-Kyo!!" Catrina yelled out, tears rolling down.

"Daddy!" Cianna and Kadin cried, running forward and punching the powerful vampire with their little paws. This of course...didn't phase Zero at all.

" Oh how cute. " Zero said, using another tentacle of metal to knock them back... the power knocking them unconscious. "... A-whoops. I figured your children would have been stronger than that~ "

As he was speaking- that same line of metal made its way in front of Kyo, turning and sharpening. It was aiming right at Kyo's chest. But why? Zero's vice was coiled around his upper and lower body. His own metal cant penetrate itself. Catrina was struggling now but the metal was too strong and too tight. All she could do was watch...

The sharp piece of destructive material made its way closer and closer- then, all Kyo could see was where it ended up. It was right in between one of the many ropes wrapped around him. ... Zero wasn't planning to stab him in any exposed area where all he had to do was squirm... Zero was looking to end it by going straight through Kyo's heart.

Then...it stopped. " One final thing- because I almost forgot. "

Kyo looked up, his eyes shedding tears of anger, hate, and confusion. Unlike the dream he had of the eBot's shooting him... this was real.

" I see your wife has that ring. Do you remember the even that happened when you were born? " the cruel vampire said with a smirk. " Why of course you do son, it was in your dreams. "

"W-what? YOU BETTER NOT DO ANYTHING T-" all Kyo thought after that, was nothing. It felt exactly like his heart exploded in his chest. The tentacle jerked and twisted- though nothing was visible through the coils. Zero just accomplished what he wanted to do for so long. Make Kyo suffer. Make him die without any peace of mind. and let it all be painful.

" KYOOOO! " Catrina screamed out as if she too was in pain. The ring on her hand started to glow- and the metal around her seemed to melt away.

Zero unwrapped Kyo to let him fall face forward to the ground. No movement, no heart able to beat... he was lifeless. Dead. Though the hole wasn't visible... some of Kyo's fur was tainted crimson red.

"Now its your tur-" Zero the insane went to speak again, but he was severely scratched by Catrina on his face. "AHH! OWWW You son of a-" he was saying, knocking Catrina back.

".. ow?..."

Something like a scratch or a cut normally did not hurt Zero in any way. Now, he felt the full force of the searing pain.

All of this was followed by more scratches and a punch to Zero's gut. Catrina punched Zero with the ring hand- and before going to attack Zero one more time while he retaliates, the ring emitted a powerful blast so strong, it disrupted his powers and made him disappear. The blast knocked Catrina out herself... and the area around flashed white.

















"Mom...?"

She woke up with a start... but held her head. "Kadin..? ..."

she looked around to see everything set out for the party, no damage of anything. "What...what happened?"

"I thought you fell asleep!" Kadin said cheerfully. "C'mon mom, come and help me set everything up while we wait for dad"

The food was already made- and she remembers it all. But how come the kids didn't?

...her heart and gut told her the ring had something to do with it, but she knew... 'daddy wouldn't be coming back home'
