A Friend from the Start, an Enemy to the End.

Chapter 1

On his way home from school, a teenager wearing a black and unzipped hooded sweatshirt over his dark blue uniform and black was walking home. His hands were in the pockets of his sweatshirt. In his left pocket he had his music player. He had headphones around his neck playing low music. His short raven hair was slicked back, out of the way of his amber eyes.

As he walked over a bridge that was over a river out of the corner of his eye he saw a young woman in a green uniform walking into the river. The water was up to her waist. She looked as if she were in a trance.

“Hey, what the hell is she doing?” He asked himself. He ran to the edge of the bridge and jumped down to a grass hill that led down to the river. He pulled his sweatshirt off and took the head phones from around his neck. He yanked off his shoes just as he got to the water. “What are you doing? It’s dangerous to be out here.” The young man stood next to the girl, holding her, trying to keep her from walking any further. The water was a little over their waists.

“I have to find it… I-I have to find it.” The girl said in a plain tone.

“What are you looking for? Maybe I can help you find it.”

The girl looked at him. Her brunette hair fell lightly around her shoulders. Her blue eyes looked almost empty.

“It’s a white locket. It was present from my mother--.” She spoke sadly but the young man cut her off.

“Alright, I’ll help you look. You should probably get out of the water, you look like you’ve been in here for a while.

“No, not until I find it.”

“But what if you get sick?”

“I need that locket.”

“All right, all right, I get it. Let’s hurry and find it so we can dry you off.”

The two of them looked around in the river for what seemed like hours but was really only around forty minutes. The sun had finally started to set.

“Hey, I’ve found it! Now come on, let’s get out of this water before one of us gets sick.” The young man said. He ran over to the girl and handed her the locket. They walked out of the water.

“Th-thank you for helping me find it… You don’t even know who I am and you still--.”

“I did what I though was right. No more, no less. By the way, my name is Zola Averiz. What’s yours?” The young man asked as he picked up his shoes and handed the girl his sweatshirt. Her shirt was dark green and her skirt was short and white.

“I—my name is Aislynn Madosia. It’s very nice to meet you Zola.” The girl said as she held the sweatshirt around her shoulders.

“That’s a beautiful name. Hey, Aislynn why don’t you come over to my house for a little while. We can get you a warm change of clothes. I don’t live too far from here.”

“Th—that would be nice… Thank you.” She moved some hair from in front of her face to behind her ear.

The two of them started walking to Zola’s house. They talked as if they’ve known each other all their lives.

The house was average sized with a low solid fence that went around the front yard. A low wooden gate opened to a concrete walkway that led to the house. It was dark out now.

“Hey, Mom, I’m home and brought a guest with me.” Zola said as he opened the door.

“Oh, who is it?” A woman walked over the door wearing a whit apron over a red shirt and white pants. She was wiping her hands on the apron. Her eyes were blue and her hair was dark.

“Hello, my name is Aislynn.” She bowed “It’s nice to meet you Mrs.Averiz.”

“Oh the pleasure’s all mine, Aislynn. Why don’t you stay for a while, I’ll have dinner ready soon.”

“That’s very nice of you but my dad worries so I have to get back home soon.”

“Why don’t you give him a call and let him know you’re at a friend’s house. It’s dark so why don’t you spend the night?”

“It’s kind of you to offer, but I just need to get some dry clothes then I have to head home.”

“Oh, okay. Stop by anytime you want, our door is always open.” Zola’s mom said as she walked back into the kitchen.

“I’ve got a phone up in my room, come on.” Zola led the way up the stairs. The second door they passed was his, it was on their right.

It was a clean room with a blue rug. On the far wall was a window over the bed. On the right wall was a desk with a computer and the phone on it. Some books stacked under it. On the left wall was a closet and dresser. The dresser had a TV on it facing the bed.

“Alright, Aislynn, there’s the phone.” He pointed at the desk. “I’ll head down stairs and get you some fresh clothes.” Zola left the room and closed the door behind him.

He came back up stairs carrying a basket with fresh warm clothes in it.

“Hey, Aislynn, I’ve got the clothes. I didn’t know what you’d want so I just brought up a basket. Just hand me your wet clothes and I’ll go stick them in the dryer.” He called from outside the door.

The door opened wide and Aislynn was standing there naked, she pushed the wet clothes out of the door with her foot. She took the basket from Zola and closed the door with her foot. “Thanks, Zola, you’re so sweet.”

His eyes were wide, his mouth hung open and his face was red and warm. “Sure, no problem…” He said, almost out of breath. After a long moment He picked up the pile of wet clothes and went down stairs. His face was still red. He shook the naked image of Aislynn from his mind and put the clothes in the dryer. He sat down on the tile floor with his back to the dryer as it came to life.

It was a small room, the door was on his right and the washing machine was on his left. The walls were brick. A door that went outside was on the wall he was looking at.

“Dear, God. There’s a naked girl in my room…” He said to himself in an excited tone. “That’s rad…” He breathed quietly.

“Who’s naked in your room?” A familiar voice asked him from his right. A chill went down Zola’s spine, he looked and it was Aislynn. She was wearing tight fitting jeans and a bright green top. Her whit locket swung lightly from around her neck.

“Oh, Aislynn, it’s good to see you got dressed pretty quickly. It’ll be a while before your clothes are done drying. Why don’t you stay for dinner or something?”

“It’s so nice of you to offer, but really, I’m not that hungry.” She said before sneezing. Her stomach started growling.

“Bless you… Why don’t I start running a hot bath for you? That should make you feel better before you have to go.”

“No thank you, it can wait until I get home. But thanks for offering.” She sniffled and rubbed her nose.

“All right, well why don’t we just go have some dinner then. You’re clothes should be done by the time we’re done eating.” Zola suggested and Aislynn smiled as her stomach growled again.

"Not hungry my foot." Zola mumbled.

A very interesting story, you really know how to detail the surroundings in a way that allows one to see the entire setting and the characters.
I also loved the bits of comedy you threw in .
Keep up the good work.
