This has a very interesting painting texture. The movement and mood is pretty intense.
The scale texture you did on the snake looks like chain link fence. That would be good to use as a base to start from but it makes obvious complications. I can see where the chain link is interlocking and the scales wrap around the snake in a very unnatural fashion; they flow diagonally instead of following the body of the snake.
