I already kinda went into this in the last submission, but in this new plot, Dart is a magic creature that has a metallic, raptor-shaped exo-armor, and is full of a bright green mist in the hollow space beneath the outer armor. He has openings specifically placed on his body (the back of the head, the forearms, the bottoms of the feet, etc.) that allow him to funnel out massive bursts of his ghostly mist, in order to propel himself, and his attacks, like a rocket.
Basically, his true strength in combat lies not in brute strength, but in the strategic utilization of speed, accuracy, and his tough outer layer, much like in the webcomic.
I wanted to keep the theme of Dart being a Chucho ("Mutt" in Spanish), because that fact has deep ties to the overall plot. That applies to the comic, also, but I don't want to spoil why it's significant to anyone, so just wait. I'll update it more frequently soon, I promise.
Also you probably noticed, if you saw the last submission, that Dart has a human form, and now a magic one. It's almost exactly like the webcomic in that way. See, in the comic, Dart has the small, cute adorable version of himself he puts himself in the human world, which reduces his demonic abilities to nothing to avoid accidentally harming any innocents, and can instantly switch at will to his more lethal, demonic form, whenever it's necessary.
THIS Dart doesn't have a cute little metal raptor phase, as I've realized that would make him into more of a crowd-pleasing hero character, like I want him to be in the comic. For this plot, though, I wanted Dart, not Cody, to be the more prominent and relateable main character. I want Cody to be less of the protaganist in this one, and more of a secondary character as Dart's Summoner, and I want the bulk of the story told from Dart's perspective. In order to do that, making his "weak" form a human, with an attractive, expressive face, seemed the best bet for success. Then his Powerful form, with no means of facial expression, would seem all the more menacing and powerful through sheer contrast.
Anyway, Dart is a Half-breed. The comic listed his parents, who I designed recently :), as a chupacabra mother and a nature-spirit father. In THIS plot, I decided to be a bit more imaginative with his parents' species, as I felt like with the underlying-magic theme, I had more creative license, and being more specific wouldn't hurt when it came to that.
His father is a "Cloud Phantom", who's physical form is composed entirely of a magic, mist-like vapor, almost like Captain Smoker from One piece, but with less snakes n' shit and more turning your arms into vacuous tornadoes or your own body into a level 5 hurricane. lol yeah.
His mother is a "Jin-Long" or, metal dragon, and is considered to be the strongest "purebred" creature alive. It's pretty simple why; not only is she a massive, plasma breathing, flying nightmare of a dragon, with the sadistic, cruel mentality of a sociopath kid lighting m80's in birds' nests, but also her whole body is composed entirely of nearly-indestructible metal.
I can't wait to design her
The end result of the breeding of these 2 terrible powerhouses was Dart. He has the incredible armor, savage fighting style, and endless thirst for battle of his mother, and the intelligence and mist manipulating abilities of his father. He's basically a sentient cannonball; flinging himself into his enemies--most of whom possess less straight-forward, more magical and imaginative abilities than his--and pummeling them mercilessly with a fighting style that's half Berserker and half Strategist.
You see, I love the idea of a character with a pretty basic, almost simplistic power to take on foes that undercut him for this, exhibit their own fantastic skills, and end up being beaten by the simple character, because his use of his basic power is so original and creative that he can take on anything.
Another reason I love One Piece
another long rant, but I think I write pretty well and entertainingly. So if you made it through the whole fuckin thing, congrats, thanks for the interest, and hope you enjoyed it
