Angel of White wip

Painter 11.

In-progress. One of the paintings for the 'Wings' calendar. 2/3 of the way finished, more or less. Still have more blending, defining/refining, details and such left: hair, face, hand, wings, pretty much all the elements need more work. But the end is near. Yay. :) I probably won't keep the current title for the final version. This will likely be for the January page of the calendar. Maybe December.

Originally I planned for this and another piece to be for a different calendar concept theme. But it's suited for the wings calendar, obviously so I snagged it. lol

I'm trying to create an overall impression of *white*. Can't exactly go purist with it otherwise I could just say a blank white canvas is a painting of an all-white angel. lol So I'm hoping the white comes across even though I need to use other colors.

I had wanted there to be some glow of power or magic in his hand, but I wasn't liking how it was looking. Then I thought of the halo/circlet and no matter what else I try, the halo is what works visually to me, especially as gold (tried silver. didn't like).

Now, honestly, I don't know why he's holding a halo or circlet or whatever, but I was joking around with my Dad that maybe it was getting dusty or something and he needs to clean it. Or he took it from the guy in the other painting I planned for the calendar idea with this one, since he's the dark to this one's light. lol
