Senior year is proving deadly for Jesse Valintine and her team from Lunar Group as an epidemic spreads through the town that makes the infected grow fangs, go insane, their eyes to turn oil back, and have an inextinguishable hunger for flesh. With a rising number of infected hosts it becomes impossible to hide from the general public. With the increase of danger comes the increase of their secret group being uncovered as well.
PROLOGUE
He couldn't move. The shock had him completely frozen. He had had been a second to late when it had charged at her.
She rose a shaky hand to where blood started to trickle down from four crescent incisions on her neck. When her fingers met their destination there was a sharp inhale fallowed by sobs of defeat.
"I'm sorry", he wispered softly, meeting her eyes for a second before she shoved her face securely behind her palms. All the hope and life already seeming to fade from them.
"Shoot me", she managed to choke out. But he didn't move. "Kill me", she sobbed, "you have to! I don't want to become a monster!" Dry heaves intermingled with her cries. Soon she would start to shake and break out with fever. Then, her teeth would fall out and be replaced by sharp fangs, her eyes would turn charcoal black. Finally, she'd be overcome by hunger for flesh and thirst for blood.
He raised his gun and pulled the trigger just in time.
