a modest tea party

this is only the second time i've drawn maxwell's face (rather than his mask, which he wears 90% of the time, you see) and the first time i've coloured it, AND this is the first time i've drawn him in over a year. OY. i give him far too little attention.

here we find him having tea with his darling ophelia, who is the only person around whom he is first brave enough to show his face. poor maxiepoo was raised to believe he was hideously deformed, when really his 'father' just didn't want high society to notice how very much maxwell looks like his mother's brother. he is also effectively mute; the scars are from being attacked by hunting dogs as a child, and as a result his vocal chords really suck.
