When his kind feels threatened by something, they will vigorously flap their wings and screech loudly to frighten the disturbance away.

I just drew this of the sheer power of will. Uhm.. Yeah!

His wings are not completely unfurled, no. His winspan is only a bit longer than his arms, which are equipped with talons. Mmyeah, I added them because of the difficulties it would encounter with just feathery stubs to try and pick things up! (Well, I guess he could use his feet)
