I read the first ten pages of Clover in a magazine that my mom bought me 8 years ago.

About one year ago I remembered the cool art style and tried to find the manga again online. My search was unsuccessful.

I then tried to buy the mangas from eBay & Amazon and found that the first book was about $120. Apparently the series hadn't been in print for 20 years so it was super rare.

Recently, Clamp re-released Clover into an all in one manga edition for its 20 year anniversary. I promptly bought the manga and took it home to worship. After reading the manga, I was extremely happy and felt I owed it some fan art.

So, I sketched up the line work in about 3 hours, scanned it in, and then vectorized the whole thing. That took about 12 hours and I must say I am pleasantly surprised at the final product. When I started I had no clue what I was doing. I drew the face, then the body, then the wings, and then decided I wanted some sort of silhouette with the wings. So, I drew up the sliding screen and everything else flowed from there. Lots of strong Japanese influence and red. :3

Technically, the birds shouldn't be in focus, but because I put a lot of detail work in the birds, I thought I'd leave them be without the symbol blur xD

THAT IS SO CUTE! *glomp*

I like the birds. For some reason, they make the world feel as if it's spinning a little slower...

And I don't know if that just made sense to you or not...

Either way, I love this.
