Okay- he is small and cute and squishy because he is an adolescent of his kind (Kind of like a juvenille). His kind are usually hive minded until they begin to retain information from the planet that they are on.
This particular little guy is called a 'Breeder'.
His kind are sent to neighboring planets to see if the species there will be hostel or if hybridization is possible.
Always fun lol
