Chapter 9

The King


Carla glided over to mark who was watching the villagers whispering to each other.

“Mark, are you okay?” Carla Asked, Too busy concentrating on the villagers Mark edged forward to listen in on the conversation.

“I'm telling you, it's him the one with the two dragons, why else would he come to the village? There here to speak to him about that deal they made” One of the villagers said, another villager saw Mark listening in on the conversation and grasped the attention of the people talking, he jerked his head towards Mark, the talking villagers saw the dark blue dragon and turned and walked away.

“What was that all about?” Carla asked, Mark suddenly noticed Carla behind him.

“Oh, um... I'm not quite sure, they were being awfully vague” Mark said,

“Well, anyway are you coming to the castle with me?” Carla asked. Mark nodded his head

“Yeah...sure” he said, turning to face the castle. The two dragons flew up into the air and towards the castle.

Soulryuu watched them as they made it to the castle, suddenly he started to mutter something to himself. Abruptly another voice was heard and Soulryuu jumped round.

“What!? Oh, it's just you...I know...I'm starting to have second thoughts about this whole thing,”

“Okay, here's the plan I'll set fire to the court yard over there and you set fire to the scaffolding, then you take down the left wall and I'll meet the king in the courtyard” Carla said,

“What do I do once the wall is down?” Mark asked, the two dragons were now above the castle and flew round in circles above it, Carla looked down into the courtyard.

“The courtyard looks big enough for the two of us I guess, I'll meet you there,” After speaking Carla dived down towards the castle, Marked followed.

Carla flew over the courtyard burning every bit of hay in the side of the courtyard, trying to injure as little as possible. Mark flew over to the scaffolding and hovered next to it and started to burn it. Then he moved over to the wall on his left and smashed it with his claws. Carla landed in the courtyard. The fire surrounded her but the heat seemed to have no affect on her. Almost like the fire was harmless to her. Suddenly two giant wooden doors built into the main part of the castle opened and a king walked out onto the steps.

“Dragon!” He shouted, Carla lowered her head closer to the king so she could hear him better. Just then Mark walked into the courtyard and walked up to the king.

“Why have you come here, what do you want from me?” He asked, Carla looked at Mark who just shrugged.

“We want you to leave this village alone, Leave this place entirely and never come back” Carla said, Mark looked at Carla.
'You've been watching too many movies' he thought.

“What if we were to leave the villagers alone and just build out own village?” The king asked, Carla thought about it for a while then remembered Soulryuu's words.

'don't listen to him, they always make promises they can't keep'

“What you think I was born yesterday?” Carla asked, the king stood his ground thinking.

“Yes” he said, Carla frowned. Suddenly there was a long silent moment where no one said or done anything.

“I think you should just go before she comes out of that frozen anger” Mark said,

“Yeah, yeah I think so too” The king said gathering up his men and running away. Mark put his hand on Carla's shoulder.

“Hay, are you alright?” Mark asked, Carla continued to stare at the spot the king stood in.
“I'll take that as a no” Mark said, a few minutes later after Carla calmed down. The two dragons proceeded to where Soulryuu last was.

“So, I see you're mission was a success” Soulryuu said, Mark and Carla nodded.
“Right well we should move out, get to the castle as quickly as we can” Soulryuu said, Soulryuu started to walk and Mark and Carla followed.

“Hay, Mark are you wondering why we haven't told the villagers they are safe now?” Carla asked, Mark nodded.

“After the way they treated me when I was listening to them speaking... I don't really think they like us” Mark said, Carla shrugged. Soon the three entered another forest.

“Ever wondered why there's so many forests?” Mark asked, Carla looked round

“Well it is many years before most of the trees got cut down so I guess there's lots of forests because not many trees have been cut down yet” Carla relied. Mark nodded his head to agree. Suddenly Soulryuu stopped.

“Hay Soulryuu are you okay?” Carla asked, a faint sound was heard by both Carla and Mark

“You hear that?” Mark whispered to Carla.

“Yeah...almost sounds like...Soulryuu talking to himself?” Carla said,

“Soulryuu is everything alright?” Mark asked, Suddenly Soulryuu turned round to face the Mark and Carla.

“I'm...I'm, we'll set camp down here and continue in the morning” Soulryuu said, Mark looked up into the sky.

“Good plan, it's starting to get dark, I'll get some fire wood” Mark said,
“Oh I'll go too!” Carla said, Mark and Carla walked off into the dark. Soulryuu sat down and covered his face with both hands.

“ooooh what to do?” He asked.
