One Class to Another -- Chapter 7

"Mission begins in sixty seconds!"
The voice boomed over both bases, it was quite loud. Pyro and Engineer glanced at each other. "...so.. ya ready, Py?" Pyro nodded. "'Rr y'uu?" Here, Engineer wasn't sure how to respond. "I... well, I dunno..." He looked a bit worried over what was to happen to them.. but, then Pyro patted his shoulder. "Wh'll bee ok'yy, d'n't w'rry.." He shrugged. "I dunno.."
"Mission begins in thirty seconds!"
"...You two should defend da intel, mates." Sniper spoke up, talking to them. "It's prob'ly da safest place ta hide out, plus it keeps the intelligence safe. 'Sides, you two will make a good duo, I'll bet." Here, he gave an arrogant grin. Engineer raised an eyebrow. "Whaddya mean 'bout that, Sniper?" He shrugged, still grinning. "Nothin'. Heheh." Pyro gave Sniper a glare, though he couldn't tell. "I jus' hope that we're at least better than those REDs." Sniper pulled up his rifle. "...You be careful out there." Engie told Sniper. Cockily, Sniper grinned again. "I should be sayin' dat to you, mate."
"Mission begins in 5.. 4... 3... 2.. 1! BEGIN!" The voice died off as the steel doors raised. Scout jumped to his feet and ran out as fast as possible, turning left. Heavy barraged out, holding the biggest minigun Engineer has ever seen. Medic followed behind, holding a very strange gun that seemed to connect to Heavy, as plus signs seemed to float around him. They ran to a doorway, farthest from the respawn. Soldier and the black man followed behind, going the same way Scout had. Sniper walked out calmly, waving his sniper rifle around like it was nothing. Spy was no where to be seen..
Pyro jumped to her feet and grabbed Engineer's hand with her own, tugging him away as she held onto her flamethrower with her other arm. "C'm'nn!" She urged him, as Engie picked up his pace and walked with Pyro. Neither of them particularly noticed that they were holding hands, as Pyro was more or less leading Engineer to a doorway that said, "Intelligence" in bright white letters on the side. The two began to walk down what appeared to be "stairs", which were just large colored wooden plates in a hallway, leading downstairs. The two walked into this small corridor, with two pathways and a doorway. One pathway led to a steel door, while the other led left. The doorway led the same way as the left pathway. Pyro dragged Engineer into the doorway, and walked down a small hallway. "'lm'st th'rr.." She murmured, as she took a right at the end of the hall. Past the hallway led into a small room, with a desk on one corner of the room. It had a blue briefcase on it, which Engineer guessed was the intelligence. "H'rr's th' int'll rhoom." Pyro explained, letting go of Engie's hand as she pulled her flamethrower up and clicked it on, looking around cautiously. Engineer nodded. "Okay.." He reached into his pocket, and pulled out the building PDA. He clicked it on. "Alright, lesse.." His finger hovered over the sentry build, and he clicked on it, shoving it back into his pocket. Suddenly, a big toolbox seemed to materialize in front of him in mere seconds, as he hauled it over to a corner. He had training on this; he knew about it. Engie set it down on the ground. The toolbox opened up, as a machine began to wind itself up, and build itself. Pyro walked up to the machine, and stood beside it. "Ah'll w'tchh y'ur s'ntree." She said to him, and he nodded in agreement. "A'ight." Slowly, he walked out of the room, back out into the hallway. I thought I saw metal this way.. He thought, walking out into the corridor. Engineer looked around. He noticed a bottle of healing pills and the small metal box he was looking for. "Ah, there it i--"
There was a loud scream. Pyro overheard it and ran out of the intelligence room as fast as her little legs could carry her. Engineer had cried out in pain as a knife stuck out from his shoulder. A Spy stood behind him, unsatisfied by his mismark. Unfortunately for him, he also didn't foresee a Pyro.
Fwoosh! The spy burst into flames as Pyro set her flamethrower on him. In mere seconds, he dashed away, but quickly fell over, dead. His body burned and crackled. Engineer was whimpering, kneeling down and holding his shoulder, as his sleeve began to turn a dark red. Pyro noticed this. "..E-Ehngee!" She quickly scooped him up and took him into the intel room. She set him down on the desk. He cringed. "....I-I'll help y'uu.." Pyro tried to reassure Engie, as he kept whimpering in pain. She turned her attention to the knife embedded in his shoulder. "...Th'ss'll h'rtt.." She muttered, as she wrapped one hand around the handle of the knife. With all her strength, she tugged, and pulled the knife out, much to Engie's dismay, as he cried out in pain again. Pyro looked around, trying to find something to stop the bleeding, but she could not. "...Cu'ld y'uu trai t' b'ild uh despehnss'rr?" Despite the horrible pain and throbbing in his arm, he nodded. "..S-sure.. Py... where do I put it...?" Engineer agreed, staring at her. "...R'ght th'rr." She pointed at the corner to the right of where he placed the small 'sentry'. Slowly, he got up and walked over to the other corner. He knelt down, and pulled out his building PDA. Pyro followed behind, and knelt next to him. He used one hand to click the dispenser button, though with a bit of trouble. The toolbox appeared again in his arms, and he painfully set it on the ground. "'ere we go.." He muttered. Slowly, Engineer tugged the wrench from his belt, but then Pyro snatched it from him and began whacking the sentry for him. "..Wha..?" Engie was surprised. "Why're ya.." Pyro quickly answered. "Y'urr h'rtt." And, the dispenser was built and ready. The screen flicked on, and a beam of healing touched both Pyro and Engineer.
"..." Engineer laid himself against the dispenser, letting it's healing properties get to work. Pyro slowly handed the wrench back. "....thanks, Py.." He thanked her, slowly taking the wrench back. Slowly, she tugged her mask off and laid it on the ground, showing her face once more. "You're welcome, Engie.." And, she softly smiled at him. "I'm glad you're okey.." Engineer gave her a friendly smile back. "An' I'm glad you were there t' save me.." He chuckled, and patted Pyro's hand. She giggled and blushed a tiny bit. "..I'll always be there to help you, Engie.. always." And she scooted up next to him and leaned against his undamaged shoulder. He laughed, a bit sheepishly. "Hey, I'll always be there for ya too.." And they both laughed.

For the rest of the day, Engineer and Pyro spent their time in the intelligence room, protecting it from all intruders. At around 5 PM, a voice boomed over the speakers. "Attention, BLU team! There is one minute left, I repeat, ONE minute left! You are tied with RED. You must get one point, or you both lose!" And the speakerphones went dead.
"OI, LEAVE ME ALONE MATE!" Shouted Sniper, as he ran downstairs. Following behind him was a female RED Sniper, shooting at him with an SMG. "Then give the intel back!" "NEVER!" He was running as fast as his legs would let him, holding a machete. The girl followed behind. Almost dere..! Truthfully, Sniper didn't want to kill the girl. He had a sort of policy of not killing girls, for unknown reasons, unless they got him first. Even then, he was still reluctant to fight this girl..
"INCOMIN'!" Sniper shouted, as he ran into the intelligence room and up to the BLU briefcase. Seconds later, the girl ran in.
The Sentry that was cornered took sight of the enemy Sniper and began to shoot. BLU Sniper turned to the RED Sniper, mere inches away from the desk. "H-HEY!" He rushed toward the girl, as she was shot. And then.. a pack of missiles shot at the girl. "WAIT NO!" Sniper leaped at the girl, and tackled her, sending both of them into the hallway, where they were safe from the sentry's missiles and gunshots.
"Ghhckkk..." The RED sniper moaned in pain. She was shot all over, and was bleeding pretty badly. However, she was still conscious, and stared at the BLU Sniper, sitting over her. "....You a'right, mate?" He sounded a bit worried for her. She coughed. "Wh-why do you c-care? You're.. BLU!" She did her best to sound fierce, but instead fear overtook her voice. "....." He fell silent. "...Lemme help ya.." Slowly, Sniper got up, and took RED Sniper into his arms. He carried her to the steel door in front of the hallway. It opened upon him approaching it. He walked inside, and gently set the RED Sniper on the bench. She fearfully watched him as he opened one of the medical cabinets. "...Why..? Why are you...?" Sniper was silent as the girl spoke. He told himself he didn't know why. He told himself over and over again... but, there truely was a reason. He couldn't tell her, though. "...I... just... ...I don't like seein' sheilah's in danja', sheilah." He pulled out a medical pack, and sat down next to her. He was no Medic, but he knew how to fix himself up, so he proceeded to wrap gauze around the bullet wounds. The RED girl shivered and cringed in pain as he did this. "...." He was silent as he stared at her. ...She's pretty.. He thought to himself. "...But, she's RED.. ..Who cares if she's RED? You weren't even here when your la-- ..No, shut up! Don't... His mind seemed to battle itself as his eyes became soft. "...yer a pretty good snoipah, mate." The RED Sniper remained silent. "Real good.." He then noticed a symbol on the sniper's shirt. It reminded him of a Spitfire plane. "...Spitfire?" Her eyes stared up at Sniper. "...That's my nickname." She spoke, softly. "...Nice nickname. I like it.." He couldn't help but smile a bit. "....You should be all fixed up. How about ya keep yourself here until you're all ready t' go back to your base?" The RED Sniper remained silent, but nodded. He nodded back in agreement, and began to walk out of the room.
"Wait, Sniper..." The RED quickly spoke, stopping BLU Sniper. "...Yeh?" "...Thanks. For helping me..." He nodded, and suddenly he could hear the Announcer shout over the speakers: "Congratulations, BLU team. You have won this battle with the REDs. Go get some well-rewarded sleep and prepare for tomorrow." He looked back at the girl. "...You be careful when leaving, alright?" She nodded. "...Okay."
