Good morning sun,
The world is waiting
for you to start the day.
Give light, give warmth, give life
keep The Monster at bay.
The Monster is a terrible thing
Thousands of miles long, hundreds of feet wide.
Takes light, takes warmth, takes life,
In a constant
battle with the sun.
As the sun starts to drift
The monster sneaks, covering the land in darkness
and eats the sun.
But the sun is too hot, yet The Monster does not yield,
many hours pass.
Finally The Monster, with raging hate, spits
the sun back out.
The sun is up again.
