Hell's Angel: Prologue
Its December 31, 2011. It is currently 11:59 PM here in Time Square, New York City. The ball is reaching its way down to the bottom. Nothing but joy and togetherness roar through the streets of the city. As our voices join the final countdown of the year we think of the new accomplishments that we will ensure in our future. Though this New Year is going to be different. By that I mean chaotic. Scientists repeated 2012 would be the end of the world.
Leaving a few of us in fear of it happening. Others grew into boredom of the illogical hypothesis. I took a good look around the buildings surrounding us all. The reflections of determined souls prepared for up coming conflicts in life shined from the windows. We all watched the ball crawl down to its resting place. We chanted. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. And then. Happy New Year.
I became deaf from the courageous crowds cheering. Suddenly a large bang came from the distance almost as if you could hear it from the other side of the world. Everyone’s head turned to the giant TV monitor. A picture of the Freedom Tower is shown. But I saw no freedom. I saw burning ashes shooting from the windows as it fell apart. Fear had stoke everything in its path. I then knew that the scientists were right.
It is the end of the world.

Oooh. Seems like a good opening for your story. But may I ask, what caused Freedom Tower to become engulfed in a firey explosion?
