My submission for a B/W vs Color Contest over at another.. art site. 8D
I needed to do another fanart piece for Tomo's application, and heck, I thought the theme worked well with these guys. Nae is so colorful and Teshi is so.. not. He's not even dreary! He's just that way.
My attempt for this was to do Nae's side of the picture completely colorful. Bright colors.. And.. Yeah. The most difficult part of her was her hair. I did it wrong, but shhh! You might not notice if I don't say anything.
For Teshi's side, I wanted it dark, but with muted colors, not so much as shadow. I don't think I was as successful on either side as I would have liked, but at least SOME contrast is visible, and I'm okay with that.
Here's a funny story. When I was zoomed in and working on Nae's hand, after zooming out, I shocked myself after glancing at Teshi's side (I drew him first). I was so blinded by the colors that his faded side was surprising. Man, I realize now he's pretty pale. I hope he's okay. Can he really be living and breathing?! O_O
This took roughly.. some hours.
More than one, but less than.. three or four. I'm making a rough estimate and eliminating my guestimates of the time I spent distracted.
I love color, but black and white is neat, too. Can't they both coexist in harmony? Don't make me pick!
