A Princess' Lament

A Princess' Lament
(Fairytale female version)

Once upon a time, long long ago
In a far away place where elves and fairies go;
A place of valiant knights and damsels in distress
Where magic and spells are chanted by witches.

There, through my lofty tower window, i daintily sat
Gazing at the moon casting sparkles upon the rocks;
The cold sea breeze gently whispering in my ear
Subtly yet tenderly telling me that my love is near.

Warmly yet still in my heart aches such a throbbing pain
Oh where is the love i had waited for in this fairytale?
I had sent forth the phoenix to watch over you everyday
But why does it seem so that my knight has lost his way?

Which path did you turn to, who did you asked?
Was Merlin able to tell you how to finish the task?
Has the unicorn told you where i can be found
In this dream, in this dazzling fairytale ground?

I want to be with you and live happily ever after
I want to grow and share our love with each other,
I want to be your princess and you to be my prince
Here in this splendid fairytale where true love wins.

Once upon a time, not so long ago
I caught a glimpse of you since then i know,
You are the prince of my dreams and in fairytale land
Yet in your dreams, you ask for another maiden's hand.

An old poem I made written with reference to "The Fairytale" written by Edgardo Macatulad in 1996.

I made "A Princess' Lament" after reading the poem eight years after, and thought, why not write a female version of it so I did. I know it is not exactly original.

And then five years later, I am submitting it here :yay:
