Letter to Me

Hi there,
It’s me, or rather, it’s you. Writing to myself…ain’t that silly? But there really are some things I’d want to tell you if I could. Things you shouldn’t do, and things you probably should have.

First of all, I wish you wouldn’t listen to Britney Spears and karaoke it in the front yard. It seems fun while you’re in the moment, but no, later you’ll realize that Britney Spears is bad juju. Stick with the country your parents listen to; now there are some good songs. Don’t be so desperate to find your own style that you resort to NSYNC and those sample tracks that came with the movie Osmosis Jones from the soundtrack. The whole song’s not even on there!

Next, I’ll warn you that you’ll somehow think it’s all right to draw ‘Doggy Police’ on the back of your brother’s old boy scout vest. That’s not all right; don’t do it, man. Mom is very disapproving of that AND DAD STILL LOVES YOU when he comes home and jokes about not loving you anymore. IT’S A JOKE. Funny ha ha. Please don’t throw a tantrum and waste away in your room. And Karate isn’t so bad; don’t try to run away because you hate it, or because you have a lot of homework. Compared to your high school Geometry teacher, what Ms. Hunt dishes out for homework is nothing. If I survived freshman year, you can survive sixth grade.

Later on, you’ll have a few crushes. David is a friend, so please don’t tell his twin sister you like him. –shudder- Please don’t. And I should warn you that Kyle is a jock and you’re too good for that piece of garbage wannabe teenybopper gangbanger. In middle school, it doesn’t work out with Jon, and being recommended to Max by Jon doesn’t fly, either. He’s a jerk now, anyways. In high school, you’ll turn Nathan down and resort to living alone your whole life. Good, no noise. A life in solitary peace seems rather fitting.

You’ll find interest in writing, more so than you do in the current. Picture books become a thing of the past, and it’s on to full-fledged novels. Don’t read ‘Twilight’. Real men don’t sparkle. Stick to Bram Stoker, please and thank you.

Most important over all of this, remember to tell mom and dad you love them every day. It’s hard to see this now, but no one lives forever. When you visit Grandma and Grandpa, be grateful for everything they ever gave to you to brighten your life. Be happy you have them, because some people at school don’t. And Grandma and Grandpa can’t live forever, either. Remember to hug Grandpa and tell him you love him in the ICU, even if he doesn’t know what you’re talking about, or who you are.

Well, that’s all I’ve got.

Love,
You

P.S. Your second house is haunted, btw.

Seemed like a fun thing to do, and it's kinda spreading around OMGOD ITS AN EPIDEMIC HIDE.
Naw.
Okay, when I was little, I was playing ponies with the next door neighbor and I apparently didn't say hi to my dad when he came home. So I did when I got inside, I did, and he joked around saying he didn't love me anymore. Back then, I didn't know to just say -sigh- Papaaaa, and we would laugh and it would be OK. Instead, I ran to my room and cried and skipped dinner.
U-huh.
I could probably think of more things to say than this, but I can't think of em right now. ^^;
Do this if you haven't, because it's fun to see what people would change or tell their younger selves. :3

I read it from purple cloud and thought it was a good idea, so now I pass it on -forces the pass onto unsuspecting innocent pedestrians-

XD it's funny the things we think to tell our younger selves. Most of these I've read are full of 1) warnings about the future and 2) things we did when we were young that we now think was stupid.

Indeed, real men don't sparkle.
