Celie - Turnaround

Celie Haughter

Not, not like "hot," but like "hauteur."

Celie is the second character to appear in the "Chuckleton Charlies." unsurprisingly, she's bossing Iggy around like the woobie he is.

For the uninitiated, Celie's personality includes, but is not limited to; being a drama queen, abusive (verbally and physically), selfish, a glory-grubber, camera-mugger, and self-indulgent "arteest." She's obsessed with getting attention when it comes to performing, but becomes more withdrawn when off the set. She's actually good at acting (though she prefers drama over comedy), but her attitude keeps her back. She sort of represents the mentality that people may get when it comes to "specialties." They may be lax and carefree of anything else, but if they feel challenged or find a need to shine in their "one special thing," then they becomes extremely aggressive to make it a point that it's their thing and no one elses.

Design-wise, I wanted Celie to look intimidating. Not like "I'm going to kill you" intimidating (though if it's there, that's a plus). Celie is designed to look like the sort of people that stand around looking bored, arrogant and uninterested. The kind of people you'd be afraid to tell a joke to, because you'd know that the punchline would die in your throat while they'd keep half-glaring at you behind sunken, pallid eyes until you just shrink back to the hole from which you came. THAT is what I was going for, and I think I've done alright there. Though this intimidation factor may be overshadowed by the fact that's she's cute-looking... in a "I'll make you dead inside" kinda way. Grungy hair, thespian-grade casual clothing, and a skull barette to boot. Celie's a Toon you don't want to piss off.
