ANSOS: LMF-Ch.11
Chapter 11-First Battle: Cowgirl vs. Techno…Paintball Style!
A week passed since the two teams trained up and soon the day came. Panther sent another communication the day before saying there is a boat that would take them to the base over at the pier in front of the hotel. The 8 fighters soon found it, got on board and realized there was no-one driving but a computer.
Shadow walked over and saw there was already a set of co-ordinates already programmed inside which he recognized. “Those creeps took it over.”
“Took what over, Shadow?” Angel asked.
“The old Prison Island GUN Base. The place Eggman found me in and Rouge and I helped him blow up after collecting the Emeralds that were there.”
“They probably chose it to psyche you out or something.”
“Probably. But I doubt that would work.”
It didn’t take them long to get to the base, and Shadow’s doubts were true, he didn’t get psyched out at all. They were met by a gray, almost black, male cat with the same yellow eyes as Panther.
“Welcome,” he greeted with politeness and authority, “I am Fog, one of the three superiors of the Black Arm Hunters.”
“‘One of the superiors?’” Shade repeated with a slight growl in his voice.
“Yes my dragonish friend. Through these doors you’ll face each of the agents. The number of victories you earn will determine if you face myself as well as the other two. Be warned: victories below half is an automatic win and we get to destroy these three.”
He narrowed his eyes and cocked his head towards the ARK Siblings to prove his last point, which made the others uneasy. He soon put his eyes normal again and stepped out of the way to let them through the doors, which opened on their own by computer.
The first room they entered in looked really cyber-world like. There were blocks all over, like a paintball stadium, but they seemed painted in a way to resemble the patterns of computer chips, and they glowed in the black lights that shone on them. At the end of the room there was Agent 8: Scope the Weasel, decked out in red and black paintball gear, with a blue coloured set next to him and ready for his opponent.
Smirking, Angel stepped forward a few steps, and spoke tauntingly with a western accent, “Looks like we’ll be playin’ my kind of game, partner.”
Scope looked surprised to see his opponent and Shadow couldn’t help but smile and blush a bit, seeing Angel, decked out in a cowgirl hat and a large belt buckle that she told him about earlier, ready for her opponent.
:FLASHBACK:
“What the?” Shadow asked when she noticed the unusually large belt buckle on Angel.
“What? This old thing? Little did you know I can bull ride.”
“B-bull ride?”
“Yeppers! Being part echidna gave me this extra toughness to handle even the most dangerous of bulls. After 8 seconds, I get thrown off and run to jump the fence before the bull charges me.”
He looked stunned at her a few minutes and then said, “Remind me to tell the others to not make you mad.”
“Sure thing, my sweet little partner,” she replied with a wink and a western accent that caused Shadow to go redder than Knuckles’ fur.
:END FLASHBACK:
“Hey Shad,” Sonic said to get him out of his thoughts, “What’s up?”
“Just remembering something from this morning,” he replied, going slightly red again.
“I was hoping to not face a girl but,” the agent said as he held out the gear, “orders are orders and I’ll give you a few minutes to change since you know the rules except for one thing: we need to try to hit the other only one time in order to win. Understand?”
County Road 233
Under my feet
Nothin’ on this white rock but little ‘ol me
Angel grabbed the gear with another wink to show she understood his rules of the game, and disappeared behind a block to change. She soon came out with even her dreadlocks covered in black ribbons to help her hide better.
I got two miles ‘til
He makes bail
And if I’m right, we’re headed straight for hell
“As to quote a western character, ‘You feelin’ lucky, punk?’”
Scope swallowed a little bit nodding before he put his mask right and she finished as she put her own mask right, “Well let’s get it started!”
I’m goin’ home, gonna load my shotgun
Wait by the door, and light a cigarette
He wants a fight, and now he’s got one
And he ain’t seen me crazy yet!
He came inter her view, but stepped back as a small blue paintball just missed him and she rolled behind another block, missing a few more of his. Scope put up a barrier in front of the others with the push of a hidden button on his belt and started shooting red paintballs, but Angel was quicker and ducked behind a block, readying her gun.
He slap my face, and he shook me like a rag doll
Don't that sound like a real man
I'm going to show him what a little girls made of:
Gunpowder and lead!
She shot a few more times, barely missing his tail as he ran behind another block and waited for a good shot. She was smarter and ran to a block in the middle of the room and shot near him to get his attention, which she got it, until he ran out of ammo missing her again. After he loaded, he noticed she disappeared so he walked smoothly and quietly, not knowing she climbed onto another block and was waiting for him to reach a certain spot.
It's half past ten, another six pack in
And I can feel the rumble like a cold black wind
He walked slowly and she thought to her self: *C’mon…a little more…*
He pulls in the drive, the gravel flies
He don’t know what's waiting here this time
She shot as he got close to a blue circle onto the floor and just missed again and he fired towards her direction, just as she jumped off behind it.
I'm goin' home, gonna load my shotgun
Wait by the door and light a cigarette
If he wants a fight, well now he's got one
And he ain't seen me crazy yet!
Now she was getting serious! She shot a few more times towards him and he ducked before shooting. One paintball exploded on the corner, covering her front with a half splatter of red paint.
He slap my face and he shook me like a rag doll
Don't that sound like a real man
I'm going to show him what a little girls made of
Gunpowder and lead
He had almost the same thing with her shots, only the half splatter was on the cloth on his tail. He soon ran to another spot but bad luck got the better of him when one of his shoelaces came loose and he stepped on it.
His fist is big but my gun's bigger
Soon she got a better upper hand when he tripped. His gun flew out of his hands and he was scrambling for it.
He'll find out when I pull the trigger
She got into position, checked her distance, and said, “Looks like your luck ran out, Scope!”
I'm goin' home, gonna load my shotgun
Wait by the door and light a cigarette
If he wants a fight, well now he's got one
And he ain't seen me crazy yet!
She shot her last paintball and it exploded right on his back, giving him a good blue splatter right where it landed, declaring Angel the winner!

She took off her mask and shook her head, with a big smile on her face as he got up with a look of defeat on his face. He pressed the button on his belt again, lowering the barrier and allowing the others to run up and congratulate her. Especially Shadow who gave her a good kiss on her cheek before she broke away from the group and got changed behind a block.
When she came back, they soon saw a dark brown ferret with black eyes and Scope saluted giving them the sign that he was another one of the superiors.
“I see you failed in your victory, Agent 8,” he spoke sternly, “You know what to do.”
He looked fearful at that point and stepped on the blue circle Angel saw on the floor, which ended up being a hidden door when the ferret took out a button behind his back and pressed it, making Scope fall through screaming!
After the door closed again, cutting off the fading scream, he turned around to the Sonic Heroes and spoke. “I am Superior Cliff the Ferret. What you see there is part of the price of failure. Agent 7 is through the door and she’ll be looking forward to your match with her.”
A door in the back of the room opened up and the whole group walked through it with determination, leaving a certain ferret smirking. That it, until he heard his communicator and pulled on his shirt collar to speak into a microphone stitched into it.
“This is Cliff.”
“This is Victoria. Did you send down the failure yet?”
“I just did. Didn’t Scope land in the room?”
“No he didn’t! Something is up. Fog and I are going to investigate while you keep an eye on the targets and their friends.”
“Affirmative. Cliff out.”
He let go of his collar, confused on the unexpected event. He left the room to go into the next one when the fight was over, not knowing that Nack, Vector, and Rouge snuck in to save the losers.
They were under the floor with a net already occupied with a very surprised Scope, and Nack whispered, “Hello, cousin! Nice of you to drop in, eh?”
“Cousin Nack! What are you doing here!” he whispered harshly as he was being pulled into the side of the chute.
Rouge answered this time while Vector had his snout tied, “We snuck in to save you guys! I did a little research by hacking into the systems and found that each of you agents are pawns in this game!”
“What?!?”
“It’s true!” Nack replied. “C’mon! Let’s get ready to fish out another one! Rouge even got us a map!”
“But what about your scaly friend here? Why is his snout tied up?”
“He doesn’t exactly know the word ‘quiet’ too well,” Rouge answered and Vector just nodded in response.
They all crawled to the next chute, praying that Espio will be victorious in this round against Kantata the Gecko.
