Sound effects compilation detailing the startup of the MK V Turbothrust Super Kinetic Ion Pulse (SKIP) Drive powering the SF-36 Advanced Trans Atmospheric Space Interceptor.

You'll hear the startup energizer warm up the ion ramjet and then hear the initializer for the pulse pulse drive come online and idle at low before the pilot ramps up the drive and hits the throttle.

The thrust output for the Turbothrust Mark V is rated for up to 100 Gs but governed in an envolope of 20 Gs for various safety and logistical reasons. Other safety reasons prevent the drive being used at maximum stardrive capacity within an atmosphere. (Mainly because if it does, you'd be riding the tip of a nuclear fireball. Throwing exhaust out the back of your craft at .1 C doesn't go down well with the local environment.)

The SF-36 is a Fifth Generation Starfighter capable of going from a powered down state to orbit in one minute.
