I cant remember if I already posted a pic of this red and black suit of armor I made in art class in high school, but if i didnt, i probably should.
Anyway, i was feeling bored and was in a creativity block. so after cleaning out my closet to make room for my cardstock suit of armor i made in my high school art class, i got an idea from the suit, a live-action megaman movie thats coming out this summer (www.megamanfilm.com), and basically the build of a robotic humanoid character from any megaman game, and decided to do a second attempt at a suit of armor. I'm pretty happy with the current result of making this suit form the bottom up. most of the materials im using is foamcore posterboard, ducttape & packaging tape, sowing thread, and a cut up black shirt.
the boots were a little difficult but i was able to get the toe ends shaped into an arc by taking a section of a miracle whip jar that i cut in half to make 2 semi-circles. these i ducttaped to the topside and they looked like a pair of sandals when i added an curved strip of posterboard from the jar piece to the toe. the heel was tricky to do because the first time i did it for one boot, it was kinda simple, but the other boot needed some measurement and sizing to make the duplicate heel. then there was getting the black tshirt cloth to go throughout the inside of the boot. i cut some board into four sections, 2 identical to eachother for the front and back of the foot, but each were flipped for left and right feet to match. then i stitched a cutout of the cloth foot bottom to the soles made of posterboard so that one side was covered and the other wasnt. the bare side was for elevating the soles. took a whole day to finish both boots.
the arms, very simple, but had to tape some scrap pieces together to make them. and now for the thighs or the chestplate. ill do either whichever comes to mind first.
