Okay, this is one of my first art pieces with my new tablet.
I liked this one, so I decided to post it...
Explanation behind the piece: This was one of the first (and rejected) versions of the monster Pale Man from the movie "Pan's Labyrinth".
I don't know why they changed it.
It looks fine to me just like this.

...... yeah, WHY.
Really.
Pale Man concept (C) Guillermo Del Toro, or whoever..
Art (C) Me
Question: Is there anything that I can do to keep my pieces detailed, but make them sharper? All my good pieces like this turn out all... blurry and un-crisp.
Don't you dare say "use the sharpen tool" because that thing ain't worth shit.

I loved that movie.
Also, very nice job, the colors are amazing!
And, I don't know how to help you with the softness, but it doesn't look that bad.

I can definitely see how you've improved since you got your tablet. Working out well for you, then?
The problem is that you're using the smudge tool too much and in an ineffective manner. You need sharper highlights and shadows paired next to each other to create the contrast you need. When everything is too blended, it becomes an amorphous fuzzball. If you ran over this with a fine airbrush, zoomed in, and painted in finer details, sharpened up edges, etc, it'd be fine.
