Valt, the Selachori thief!

Valt is a thief from the lands of Selachor, a place inhabited by these shark-like people. Due to their great physical strength, they're often choice candidates for jobs as castle guards and soldiers. Their land is poor and their law enforcement are practically nonexistent, so criminals and outlaws find a safe haven in their country.

However, they do still have laws, and Valt had broken the single greatest one: Committing a crime against the emperor. He stole a very famous pendant from the palace, hoping to sell it off overseas. He has a long track record of crimes, but this is the straw that broke the camel's back, and now he's a wanted man...shark.

So, when he was on the run, he ran into Miasma. He noticed the way she dressed, so he figured she must be rich and could get a good price from boosting some of her stuff. Being a greedy bastard, he forgot that he's on the run from the law, and figured he could get away with it. So, he decides to steal from her that night.

But, when he tries to take some of her stuff, she hits him in the back of the head with her broom, hard enough to render him unconscious.

So, when he wakes up, he has those shackles on his wrists. Turns out, she's heard of him from the townsfolk. And, she needs help around her place. Knowing how strong and useful they are, she makes a deal to hide him as long as he'll stay and do whatever she asks of him. (She was looking around for a golem for the past week, but they're all incredibly stupid and very expensive on the market.) So, he agrees, but as soon as she lets him back up, he drops everything and runs as quickly as possible. But, he finds that once he's more than 70 feet from her, he's instantly paralyzed until he's moved backwards.

So, with his hands almost literally tied, he finally agrees to help, but he'll be as unhelpful as he can be, with his smart-ass attitude and hatred of Miasma always intact.

I SMELL THE PLOT COMING! God that was long. Maybe Bri was right, I do talk too much in these things.

Oh well. I love how this turned out. I think I captured just how mean he really is rather well. Also, I want your guys' opinion on me using these sort of patterns more often. What do you think?
