DJTyMan22: Hey bro! What’s up!
WindSpeedMangaArtist7: Hello. =_=
DJTyMan22: Uh-oh. They did it again, didn’t they?
WindSpeedMangaArtist7: Oh yeah. I wish dad gets a job on your side of the ocean soon. They’re driving me nuts over here!
DJTyMan22: He will bro! Don’t lose hope! Hey do you want to hear something funny?
WindSpeedMangaArtist7: Sure! What is it?
DJTyMan22: I went to look for a new apartment, right? Well I saw an ad in the paper about a sweet deal on a 4 bedroom!
WindSpeedMangaArtist7: Really? That’s cool!
DJTyMan22: Yeah! So I went to the place and the landlord there was so surprised that I wanted it even though I was one guy!
WindSpeedMangaArtist7: No surprise there.
DJTyMan22: Here’s the funny part! The guy asked if I wanted the room for my multiple dates as a joke so I countered back, “Yeah I do, just like a lot of other guys where I work!” and he asked, “What are you? A pimp or something?”
WindSpeedMangaArtist7: Uh-oh. What did you say to him?
DJTyMan22: LOL! I said to him as a joke, “Yeah I’m a pimp…with 50 girls!” He had such a shocked face on him that I fell down laughing until my gut hurt for a few minutes! He soon joined in for a few more minutes and then asked for my real reason after we calmed down a bit. I told him about you and dad and what happened over the years and he rented out to me the room because he understood our problem and he liked the way I joked with him!
WindSpeedMangaArtist7: LOL! He sounds like a nice guy!
DJTyMan22: He sure is and you’ll like him a lot! Although he’s curious on what the 4th bedroom would be for, but we know that answer.
WindSpeedMangaArtist7: Sure do! Can you tell him that’s going to be made into a small manga studio please?
DJTyMan22: Will do bro! Anyway I gtg to work now. See ya!
WindSpeedMangaArtist7: Bye!

“SKIPASOL SONIC HEDGEHOG!” A loud, elderly, male voice boomed from downstairs. “I HOPE YOU’RE NOT ON THAT BLASTED CHATROOM TOO LONG!”
A young blue-quilled hedgehog with green eyes sighed in annoyance as he yelled back, “I JUST GOT OFF GRANDPA!”
“ALRIGHT! I WAS ONLY CHECKING! YOU GOT SCHOOL TOMORROW! AND GRANDMA AND I DON’T WANT YOU SKIPPING!”
He sighed again at the thought. “I WON’T SKIP GRANDPA!”
He heard nothing more except for retreating footsteps and he leaned back in his chair in frustration. Skipasol, or just Skip, doesn’t like school that much even though he got straight A’s in his classes. He actually hated the fact that he’s attending a high-class private school, called Star Academy, and wished to go to a public one instead.
Mostly because his grandparents forced him to go and he had no friends except for the kind and cheerful headmaster. This wasn’t the only thing his grandparents did, though. It’s been like this since his mother died and he felt no freedom, as well as his self esteem was dropping. What had happened was his grandparents are basically running his life since a month after his mother’s funeral and he always wished his life would turn around for the better one day.
He sat up and his emerald eyes rested on a picture of a female hedgehog with hazel quills and amber eyes, his mother Amber who died of cancer when he was 5 and the same picture was in the silver heart-shaped locket that hung around his neck that once belonged to her. He sighed and got up and shut down his computer so he can go for a walk before dinner, which calmed him down before the next day. He ran his hand through his cobalt blue quills, curious on how he was born with such different quills and eyes. It was apparently a rare genetic thing from his mother’s side as well as something else: he was gifted with the ability to run faster than the speed of sound.
But he never attempted to run that fast, maybe the odd few second dash due to the neighbour’s collie always barking at him first thing before school. He usually takes it slow and enjoys what he sees, sometimes giving him an inspiration for a background or something when he draws his mangas, which he was very good at and hoped to go pro one day.
As he got down the stairs, an elderly voice sternly asked, “And just where do you think you’re going?”
He turned around to an elderly female hedgehog with tiny gray streaks in her brown quills and fur and a pair of glasses on her face wearing a white nightgown and white slippers.
“Just for a walk before dinner grandma, like I always do,” he replied, trying not to give her a bad attitude.
“All right then, but be back for dinner!”
“Yes grandma” he replied before grabbing his coat and his camera, putting on his shoes which were red ones with white stripes and gold buckles on the sides, and going out the door, rolling his eyes behind her back.
He took his time and kept an eye on his watch as he walked around his street. He looked down at his shoes, which were family heirlooms from his mother’s side and have been washed about a million times. His granny told him they once belonged to Sonic the Hedgehog when he was his age and kept the shoes after he outgrew them to be passed to his son, who passed them down to his child, and so on and so forth. He liked them a lot, to be honest. They always seem to brighten up his blue body and they were somehow made in a way that they never wear out. The only thing he ever does to them, either than washing them, was put in a set of gel soles for comfort.
He had his camera out so he can take pictures for his mangas. The silver digital camera was a 12th birthday present sent to him by his older adopted brother, Tyson. The two of them were very close, ever since the older one made a promise to their dying mother that he’ll be there for Skip when he can, no matter what. It seemed to strengthen the brotherly bonds they shared since the blue one’s birth and when Tyson found out about his manga talent, he sent the camera so Skip can have pictures for his backgrounds.
He soon saw something at the corner of his eye and readied his camera; a weathervane that seemed to have a cat on top.
As soon as he was just about to take the picture, a friendly voice said, “You’re at it again, eh Skip?”
He jumped and soon realized it was the local cat lover, Felix the Leopard, and said, “Yes sir. I saw your weathervane and wanted a picture of it for my mangas. Is it O.K?”
“Of course you can! That vane is really a gift from my niece and I thought it would look nice up there and figured you like a picture for that talent of yours! Go right ahead.”
“Thank-you Felix!” he said cheerfully as he took the picture then looked at his watch. “I need to go, it’s almost dinner and you know how the headaches are.”
“I sure do, oh and say hello to your father for me!”
“I will!” he said as he walked back to his grandparent’s mansion.
If he was ever a hybrid, he would be part high-class, part middle-class. His father’s side were all these aristocrats and such while his mother’s side were normal working guys and some farmers. He liked his mom’s side more because of the crazy and fun parties and family reunions, even though there are a few family members on his dad’s side he did like. He was also looking forward to his 16th birthday in a year when his mom’s family will have a really big party for him and he gets his ears pierced, a sign that he had come of age. In the olden times, that would be considered a day when young male hedgehogs are men before going off to war. Now these days, it’s an excuse to basically party ‘till the cows come home. He experienced this when he was 9 on Tyson’s 16th birthday and it was crazy in a good way.
As he walked through the gate, he was happy to see the family butler James waiting for him at the door. James was a gray quilled hedgehog with hazel eyes and have been working for the family for years, as well as his sister Isabella the cook. Skip liked them both the best because they understood his dreams and desires, even though his grandparents didn’t.
“Welcome back young master,” James greeted him cheerfully. “Dinner will be ready in about 10 minutes.”
“Thanks for telling me, James. At least the you-know-who’s won’t think I’m late like they did last week.”
“I couldn’t agree more.”
“By the way,” Skip said as he put on the “Playback” mode on his camera, “take a look what I found. Felix let me take a photo for my mangas!”
The butler saw the weathervane and smiled, “That look rather charming! It would look nice for your backgrounds!”
Skip smiled as he was led inside, only for it to fade when he saw his grandfather. He was in his dark green robe and slippers and his quills were just like his grandmother’s. He has a stern look on his face but just turned away after looking at his pocket watch to see if Skip was late.
The other two sighed in relief and then they heard a more cheerful voice, “Home earlier than usual, hm?”
They looked up the stars to see a roan coloured hedgehog in a blue robe and slippers smile at them with friendly brown eyes-Skip’s father Roan. Skip ran up to his father and hugged him, as well as show him the photo, and also told him what Tyson said over the chat. Roan laughed at the “pimp” comment that was made and was happy to hear that his oldest got the apartment for the 3 of them.
Roan always did what he thought best to keep his sons happy, ever since his wife’s death. He approved of Tyson for going overseas to work as a DJ and is currently trying to find a job in the same town himself, as well as finding a good public school for skip. He got close a few times and lucked out, but never gave up because he felt he couldn’t rest easier until both of his children were happy.
Isabella soon came out of the kitchen with plates of food for dinner. Like her butler brother, she too had grey quills and hazel eyes as well as the same lean build on her body, despite her constant loads of food she makes that makes her stronger than she looked. The reason is that she and James are fraternal twins that look identical, but are also different.
“Hello there Skip!” she cheerfully greeted as she was walking back into the kitchen. “Off finding more of your inspiration?”
“Yes, Bella!” he replied and she smiled because both he and Tyson were the only ones to ever call her by her shortened nickname.
“Well why not you go and wash up for dinner, hm? I made some of your favourites!”
“O.K!” was all the younger one could say before he put away his shoes and jacket and went to wash up.
While Sonic liked chilidogs, Skip liked different kind of vegetables. Broccoli and cauliflower were his personal favourites as well as chicken for meat. He didn’t like much of spicy stuff and enjoys sweets more. He walked down to the dining room where James had a chair held out for him and he and his family ate quietly.
Later that night, he went to his room with his camera in hand. A lot of guys would have either rock band or hot chick posters on their walls as well as some of them having a messy room, Skip’s room was kept clean and he had a lot of hand made posters of his own manga characters on his walls. There was Ryu, Mecho, and Digita from his shonen (boys) manga “Pure Heart Demon” as well as Mimi and her kitty partner Neko from his shojo (girls) manga “Rainbow Aura Princess” and he takes pride in both mangas.
“Pure Heart Demon” was about a half-dog demon hedgehog boy living in a sci-fi world, named Ryu, where he’s best friends with an android jackal, named Mecho, and they go to a school where an AI cat, named Digita, watches the school for the principal and he had a dragon spirit inside that reacts to his good heart whenever rogue demons tried to harm those he cared for. “Rainbow Aura Princess” was about a cat girl, named Mimi. who thought she was normal until an unusual housecat, named Neko, who said she was a princess and helps her with her powers over the elements and colours. Skip actually watched shojo animes and read other shojo mangas for the inspiration of that one. He even drew the weathervane he took a picture of for part of the backgrounds, with even tweaking it a bit to his style a well as drawing and inking a few pages.
He soon felt sleepy and looked at his alarm clock. It said it was 10:00pm and he put his stuff away and got ready for bed. He climbed in and saw a bright star outside his window, making a wish that his life will hopefully change for the better, again, as he turned out the light and went off to dreamland, resting for school the next day.
