Coloring the background with the colored conte kind of mangled it..but I'm not sure if I like it like that?

Bad idea.
Sometimes you shouldn't listen to your art teachers...because it leaves you having to explain that the robots were not being turned into happy thinking love children. And you stomp on peoples happy places.
