IDK?
The teal nail polish on my badly manicured fingers was chipping off quickly, as if the miniscule flakes were trying to get away as soon as possible. Not that I really cared anyway. Right now all I cared about was making a sand castle.
“Okay Amelia,” Edward said, crouching down next to me, “All I want you to do is make a sand castle, then your training will be done for the day and we can go swimming!” I looked up from my hands at the 16-year old sitting next to me. He had that twinkle in his eye, the one that told me that if he could do it; I could too. I managed to flash him a small smile before turning towards the book lying next to me.
“This is it Amelia,” I muttered, opening the book and tearing-out one of the hundreds of pre-made transmutation circles inside. After laying it on the warm sand I placed my hands on either side of the paper and waited.
About five seconds later I heard a crackling noise and opened my eyes to see a bright bluish-white light. The light looked like lightning reaching-up from the ground in a desperate attempt to touch the sky. This is it, I’m actually doing it! This is just like Ed does it, there’s no way I’m failing this time! It was true, I did have a past of failing, in fact, every past transmutation I had attempted resulted in failure.
I opened my eyes after noticing that the crackling noise was gone. And there, right in front of me was…
“AN ACTUAL SANDCASTLE!” I screamed jumping up-and-down excitedly.
“Wow Amelia, you did it!” Ed said. He then stood-up, grasped my shoulders,
and kissed me.
