TRADITIONAL MEDIA FTW

MATERIALS: Watercolor, colored pencil (Prismacolor), watercolor pencil (also Prisma), red/white/black ink with brushes, black pen, whiteout, salt, magazines, notebook paper, COPIES of sheet music/rhythm exercises/old print of Macbeth, gluestick, X-Acto knife, hotglue, paper flowers across two pages in my sketchbook.

Collage background stuff was first glued down and then cut out around the figures painstakingly with an x-acto knife JUST LIGHT ENOUGH that it would only cut the TOP LAYER and not the main paper underneath.

Tony Umbrella ((The Musician))
TONY WITH EMO HAIR OHMAWGAWD. I almost never draw his old haircut anymore because it is not as cute. He is, of course, blushing because he does that constantly. Behind him are lines from "Silent Night" and "The Holly and the Ivy," (for flute) both of which are in the story. The paper on his upper lip is ripped, hence the white spot. Might try to fix it again.

December Cook ((The Successor/The Actress))
#MAINCharactersIneverdraw. I am pleased that she actually LOOKS albino for once, and I adore her nose/glasses. Behind her is a color copy from my 1898 copy of Shakespeare's Macbeth, specifically the fight scene between Macbeth and McDuff. I would have preferred Alice in Wonderland, since that's the play she performs in Radiant, but this works just as well.

Jesus Valentino Kite ((The Sculptor))
#MAINCharactersIdon'tdrawanymore. Name change is hard to get used to. BEST DRAWING OF HIM EVAR. His hair is a bit less red than that, but otherwise I am EXTREMELY pleased with his bust. If you can't tell, he's doing some sort of bust out of clay there himself. To the right I attempted marble that turned into granite and is blurry anyway, but it has ink and salt and TEXTURE.

"Macbeth Taylor" ((The Core//The Writer))
#MAINCharactersIneverdraw. Ughghhghg I am in love with her head. She gets an arm/to be on both pages because, uh, she's central to the plot. You'd think I'd draw her more. Anyway, collage of magazine-cut words behind her, actual notebook paper on her notebook. I wanted yellow legal pad paper but we didn't have any.

Tuesday Robrello ((The Painter))
Her eyes are the wrong color because for SOME reason I did them brown to start, and then colored over. Ffff. Anyone who's read the story or has been watching me since 2007 knows the importance of the blue flowers. The flower Tuesday is "painting" is paper scrapbooking supplies I bought for a 3D project I still haven't started, hotglued to the paper.

Jazz Hackney ((The Poet))
#MAINCharactersIrarelydraw. Since I already had a word collage for Beth, I wasn't sure what to do for Jazz, since poetry is words also. BUT Jazz is also a beat poet and does readings, so I copied rhythm exercises from one of my old flute books and then wrote some words to one of her poems underneath. She's SUPPOSED to be snapping her fingers but I failed a little on that. Also, I changed her nose stud to a Monroe.

There is a sparkly sticky gem on the "i" in Radiant .
