State tan- Miss Virginia

This is my entry for the State-tan project on the DA. For all you Hetalia fans, the club is about making a personification of each of Alfred's(America) 50 states. And I got the open slot for Virginia. :)

Dislikes: too much snow, the "I Love New York" shirt, and hurricanes

Personality traits: protective, flirty, a go-getter
VA dons her famous travel logo, "Virginia is for lovers". The two dogwood blossoms in her hair represent Chincoteague and Assateague island. She likes wearing red, being historically conservative, but lately she has been investing in more blue clothing.

Like a mother, VA is very protective. She will cancel schools on a whim for even a small amount of snow or when her backroads become icy, so her students are safe. (though an inch or two is no big deal for northern states) VA handles her finances well and is popular with those who seek jobs in DC.

VA has two brothers, West VA and Kentucky, for they used to be a part of her before they broke off for their own reasons.

She and Maryland had a child named DC.(whom Maryland refers to as their lovechild) They both forked over land to make it. Many Virginians commute to DC every day to go to work. (and so do people in Maryland)

Virginia loves tourists. She enjoys showing them all the historic areas like Thomas Jefferson's home, George Washington's home, Colonial Williamsburg, and many more historic sites that are in VA.

Virgina got mixed up in a lot of history.England's first permenant colony of Jamestown was in VA, she received her title of "Dominion" for remaining loyal to England in the English Civil War, and England surrendered to America in VA as well. The former Confederate capital is her current capital and also she played a large role in the Civil Rights Era. Today, she may be a tricky area for presidential elections, for she is on her way of becoming a swing state.

On a small note, she gets very jealous when America wears his "I love NY" shirt. (she would prefer him to wear the VA slogan)
