This is for Photoshop. I have CS2 but I'm sure the main idea would work for most programs. I also use a tablet so you might need that too.

This tutorial is pretty helpful. I haven't tried it step by step yet but it gives me some better idea on how to make skin tones. Skin tones are something I've been struggling with for a while.

I like the idea of using 'paint daubs' filter to make it look sharper.

I'll have to try that idea out.
Other than that, I'm pretty set in my ways for the way I color skin, but it's a great tutorial to get ideas from, especially if your just starting out.
