Dragon, torch and eagle

"Dragon, torch and eagle"
by Vulpix
---------

Tears roll down my face
They start slow at first, but then they pick up the pace

I hold the torch in my hand and press it to my chest
The story ends here, we won't hear the rest

Broken and nobody to mend me
That's how it's supposed to be

The warm fire gulps down the tears and dies
The eagle flaps its wings and flies

As the horizont swallows the freedom I thought I had
I realize it just swallowed my life - I feel dead

Broken and nobody to mend me
That's how it's supposed to be

It's a noble thing to commit to someone, a great sacrifice
But sometimes the offering isn't accepted and you lose your paradise

And you will find yourself sitting there alone
The only thing coming back are memories and echoes of your moan

Broken and nobody to mend me
That's how it's supposed to be

That's how it was, is and will be forever
Until you find the right one
And at this point it seems like it will be... well... "never"
But be a dragon and stand up. This isn't fun.

Stop crying and mend your own broken heart
Nobody is going to do it for you

Being a dragon is not a privilege, it's an art
There aren't many dragons left, just a few

Broken and nobody to mend me
That's not how it's supposed to be.

I will fly and smile again.
But I will always remember

The eagle and its wings and the pain.
And the torch and its fire

Forever.

Oh, yeah. If you wonder, it's because of something that happened in my life.

The poem is weird and has a song-ish "chorus" in it.

Rieal Dragonsbane Says:

I like it! It's a sad poem, but the determination is still felt. The lack of punctuation gives me the feeling of a kind of rush, or push forward. A dragon soaring despite its wounds.
I hope writing this poem made you feel better.
