Decrion- Part 3

Lucky for me(and not so much for him), I saw him again after school.
I glared at him as he walked past, and he raised an eyebrow questioningly. I sucked in a deep breath, and stormed over to him, getting more odd looks, which I didn’t bother to register.
“Can I talk to you?” I hissed, ignoring my excited heartbeats.
“What, I exist to you now?”
I resisted the urge to act friendly when he spoke, even though the feeling got stronger the longer I stayed there, glaring. His eyes narrowed, and I couldn’t help but feel that his eyes had something to do with it.
“Not exactly. I just wanted to tell you, that whatever you’re doing, stop now, unless, of course, you want to drag yourself around by your elbows for the rest of your existence.”
One corner of his mouth lifted up in a smile, that made my heartbeats stutter for a few second, even though I was careful not to show it.
“I would…” he said slowly, “But it’s too much fun tormenting you.”
My jaw clenched, and my hands curled into fists by my sides. The curiosity was paining me it was so strong. So there was something abnormal about this person. And I wouldn’t rest until I found out what it was.
I was about to come out with a snappy remark, when the same tingling from before suddenly came back. I gasped, and his eyes widened. I took an automatic step back, but he was too quick for me. He’d already grabbed my arm and was towing me along, earning stares from other students. I hardly heard the loud whispers from the people watching. I was too confused. What did he know about myself, that even I didn’t know?
He stopped in a deserted road, out of earshot of other people. He turned to me, his eyes suspicious. I swallowed, snatching my arm out of his grasp and folding my arms.
“I hope you have a reason for dragging me out here,” I spat, glaring at him. It wasn’t hard to hate him now.
“You,” he said, “Are not the human you think you are.”
Wha?! At that point, I was pretty sure I wasn’t as insane as I thought I was. This guy made me look normal.
“Excuse me?” I said, having composed my face.
“You’re not human. You never were,” he explained, urgently.
I blinked unnecessarily, absorbing this information. Say this was real, and the guy wasn’t psychotic. What if what he was telling me was true? But if I did believe him, what if I was just being gullible?
I narrowed my eyes. “What do I look like, an idiot?”
“Listen to me,” he said, putting his hands on my shoulders, “You have to, for the sake of this universe. You have powers that no ordinary human has.”
I shook off his hands. This was too much. He had to be on drugs or something, this wasn’t normal.
“Get a grip on yourself, freak,” I muttered, then I turned and left for home.
There was no one home, so I let myself in. The house was oddly quiet, and it was one of those extremely rare days, when I had no homework(pure bliss as I called it).
I flopped down onto the couch, still in my uniform, my bag dumped in the hallway, my mood considerably better than a few minutes ago.
I searched for the remote, irritated now. How come I could never find it when I needed it most?
“Damn that stupid remote,” I muttered, under my breath, digging under the couch cushions.
“Oi! I do a lot of work for a remote you know.”
I froze, not even breathing. That was it. I had lost it. Severed all ties with reality. I had no sanity left to speak of.
“Oh, shut up, Robert! I work perfectly fine without you anyway!”
I wanted to scream when my TV joined in with the conversation. I sank down to my knees, clutching my head. “This isn’t happening,” I mumbled, my head spinning, “This cannot be happening…”
“Little girl thinks she’s lost it, poor thing,” the lamp tutted.
“You talk to?” I clapped a hand over my mouth as soon as I said the words. I was talking to a lamp! I would have to submit myself to the psychiatric ward sooner than I had expected…
“Of course dear,” the lamp told me, “We all do. Well, all of us with an current, that is.”
I swallowed. So I could talk to electrical appliances now. Maybe I wasn’t human. So if that was true, could I do other things?
I stood up, surveying the room, my legs wobbling like jelly. The fireplace caught my eye and I turned my body to face it, swaying slightly.
I took a deep breath in, and stretched my arms out, my palms facing the fireplace. I waited, not daring to breath. One second…two…three…
Nothing. I dropped my hands in disappointment. So I really was insane. I sighed, falling back onto the couch. Maybe talking to electrical appliances was my only freaky talent…
Even though I knew it wouldn’t work, I tried again, clicking my fingers and pointing my finger at the grate. I laughed at myself, thinking how stupid I was to expect something to happen.
But then, when something did happen, I couldn’t help, but keel over, and faint.
