this is a cover of the vocals for Granite by Pendulum. I just wanted to see if I could do it, and I wanted a way to hear the vocals for this song without the music behind it. The time between verses has been omitted for convenience sake.
these vocals have not been processed except for a maximizer, and compressor, to raise the volume (since the original recordings were very quiet), slight reverb, and a 5 band EQ to remove a bit of the midrange.
I recorded at most 6 or 7 tracks of my voice (I can't remember how many) and layered it to achieve the the sound that Swire got originally with a vocoder.
for lols: near the end at the harmonic part, I actually ended up giggling during the recording so I cut that out, and in turn, the harmonies were cut short. it does sound a bit odd but it was necessary. The 'scream' parts are also distorted, which is because I sang pretty close to the mic. Since this was just for fun, I made no effort to correct it.
I think Granite is one of the most beautiful songs ever written. It's sheerly and purely amazing, and Swire's vocals are angelic. I am glad to have been able to study it, and learn from it.

I have to say, I prefer your vocals to the original. There's better harmony and as a whole it sounds less flat.
On a somewhat related note, I'm surprised you consider Granite a "beautiful" song. I just consider it one of the best hard-hitting Rock/DnB tracks in existence, and my second favorite Pendulum track (behind Plasticworld).
0:48 - 0:50 honestly sounds pretty bad. The rest is great.

Very impressive, I love unaccompanied vocals, if you care to take a look sometime I have several a cappella pieces that I have written and recorded in my gallery!
This...This is really awesome. It sounds so raw and emotional. I...I feel like I gotta have a revolution now. o_O
Not bad, I do like your voice in the vocals a lot. But the harsh parts of the song are just too strong for me I think
